Forest Blakk

Forest Blakk

Influenced by artists such as Joe Cocker, Don Henley, Dustin Kensrue, Alex Clare, Ben Howard and The Neighbourhood, to mention a few, Forest Blakk's rhythmic pop-infused songs of foot-stomping sing-alongs and emotional roller coasters are sure to strike a chord with anyone who hears them. Forest Blakk, born Jesse-James Cameron, was the lead singer and songwriter of a successful Canadian roots reggae band called Makeshift Innocence. Armed with international touring, the universal hit single "All You Need Is Love" and a Canadian Juno nomination (American Grammy), he was poised for success. However, Cameron had a different path in mind; in early 2014, he along with fellow friend and songwriter Christoph Stiller, set out to start writing material that better represented Cameron's artistic vision and voice, and a new identity was born. Blakk discovered his new sound just before he found his pseudonym, derived from the Black Forest, Germany, the birthplace of his favorite author and Nobel Prize winner, Hermann Hesse. This year is slated to be big for Forest Blakk. With his debut single "Love Me," the Passport Approved Live Tour, a west coast United States tour with stops in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Fresno, Sacramento, and Santa Cruz, in addition to peaking the interest of A&R's, the sky is the limit for Forest Blakk.
