Fyfe Dangerfield
Before recording a solo album, Fyfe Danger, a Birmingham, UK native had his hands in other bands. These included Senseless Prayer, who recorded a session for John Peel’s Radio 1 show in 1999 and Fyfe Danger and the Accident. While he was with ‘The Accident,’ he was featured alongside Misty’s Big Adventure, Mike in Mono, Dreams of Tall Buildings and X Is Greater Than Y on a promotional disc that was offered free with The Birmingham Post in 2004, called Broader Than Broad Street. Dangerfield later moved to Bromsgrove and more recently London, where he became a maverick music teacher for Cranbrook College. During this move, he also found the line up for his next band, Guillemots. The name “Guillemots” caused some confusion for those unaware of its meaning. The meaning behind the name was the plural of a group of seabirds and was pronounced ‘gilly-mot.’ The Guillemots had a very successful 2005 opening for Rufus Wainwrights’s sold-out UK tour and began the following year by awarded fifth place in the BBC Sound of 2006 Survey. Later in 2006, the band signed to Fantastic Plastic and released their debut album in 2006 and they were nominated for the 2006 Mercury Music Prize. They are currently working on their third album, but in the meantime Dangerfield wanted to record a solo album. The record, Fly Yellow Moon, was produced by Adam Noble who previously worked with Dangerfield on the Guillemots albums.
