Guy Moot
Sony/ATV Music Publishing announced last week the promotion of veteran executive, Guy Moot, to the role of President, Worldwide Creative. The newly-created position is effective immediately and adds to his existing responsibilities as U.K. Managing Director. It follows his previous dual role of President of European Creative and builds on his creative responsibilities to the U.S. Moot will continue to report to Sony/ATV’s Chairman and CEO, Martin Bandier.

The new role will see Moot responsible for overseeing major creative deals in the U.K., Europe and N. America, excluding Nashville, Miami and Latin America. Moot will continue to lead the U.K. company, the market’s leading music publisher which is currently experiencing over 52 weeks as the publisher or co-publisher of the U.K. No. 1 single.

Martin Bandier said, “Guy Moot is someone I have had the pleasure of working with for many years and he stands out as one of the genuine A&R executive superstars of the worldwide music industry. His creative leadership for Sony/ATV in the U.K. and Europe has been exceptional and I am excited that he will now get a chance to fully utilize his creative talents in the U.S.”

Guy Moot said, “Since living in New York in the ‘90s I’ve always maintained a close working relationship with the U.S. and am looking forward to spending even more time there. For me this new role perfectly mirrors the industry in 2017 when many songwriters are traveling the world to collaborate with writers in other markets and a hit song can now emerge from absolutely anywhere. It means the modern A&R executive has to stay on top of a variety of markets and connect people from different territories.”

Sony/ATV U.S. Co-Presidents Danny Strick and Rick Krim will work alongside Moot and continue to report into Bandier. Sony/ATV’s Nashville, U.S. Latin and Latin American divisions will continue to be overseen by Strick.

Tamzene is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter from the coastal town of Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands. A highly talented multi-instrumentalist, she started learning piano and violin when she was eight, encouraged by her saxophonist stepfather and salsa-teaching mother. Her early influences came from hearing Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin and Eva Cassidy songs played around her home and quickly progressed to immersing herself in the sound of artists including Nina Simone, Birdy and Alicia Keys. A scholarship took Tamzene to the world famous Gordonstoun School, where teachers played a critical role in nurturing her interest in music. After a long period writing songs on her own, she’s recently started collaborating with one of Scotland’s leading songwriters and producers, Joe McAlinden (Teenage Fanclub, Rod Stewart, Matthew Sweet), at his studio in rural Argyll - a creative relationship which is seeing the young artist develop a bolder, more coherent musical identity. Her tender, soulful debut offering, Lullaby, was written and recorded with McAlinden and Grammy Award-winning producer David Donaldson. Listen to the insatiable “Lullaby” HERE and contact Dougie Brown at dougie@dougiebrown.co.uk as Tamzene is available for label (outside of UK), synch, publishing and booking opportunities.
