A&R WORLDWIDE’S "ARTIST OF THE WEEK" - POLAROID SUMMER

Polaroid Summer was formed when two well-known Texas bands decided it was time for a fresh start, with Versecity vocalist Micaiah Walker joining forces with drummer Brian Barrett, guitarist Trace Sisson and bassist Kenneth Conlon of Lost Element. After being introduced by mutual manager Chris Hulse with Snoring Gorilla Management, they played a string of shows in the fall of 2016 with Walker filling in at lead vocals; it didn’t take long before they started writing and forming the new project, Polaroid Summer. “Polaroid Summer to us is nostalgic, which is why we chose the name,” Barrett explains. “A Polaroid evokes the past and the summertime always reminds us of playing music and truly enjoying life.” While writing and working at Mix Star Studios in Virginia Beach with producer Bryce Bordone (the nephew of 11-time Grammy Award-winning mixer Serban Ghenea) they developed the New Age alt-pop sound that gives them cross-genre appeal. Channeling both electronic and organic elements combined with big propulsive beats, catchy guitar licks and hook-driven lead vocals, the band’s debut EP features everything from the self-empowering messages within first single “The Giant” (mixed by Ghenea) to heartfelt tracks about loss and healing captured in “Feeling Connected” to the millennial generation singalong anthem “American Gold.” Listen to “The Giant” HERE and contact Chris Hulse at chris@snoringgorilla.com as Polaroid Summer is available for label, booking, distribution, synch, licensing and other branding/partnering opportunities.

A&R WORLDWIDE’S "VIDEO OF THE WEEK" - EGIL OLSEN

In the last decade, singer/songwriter Egil Olsen has independently released several critically acclaimed albums. He is constantly touring and has become a live favorite, combining his vulnerable, intimate and naively honest songs with his unpredictable humor and charming stage presence. Besides handling most instruments and producing his own music, he also makes his own artwork and music videos. He has made music for TV and film and recently had several songs in the computer game ‘Dreamfall,' where he also appears within the game, doing a full concert as a 3D animated character. He has even made a daily comic strip for one of Norway’s leading newspapers, about himself, his music and “the somewhat pathetic life of a relatively unknown superstar”. Egil Olsen was even given his very own tribute album, released on limited vinyl, with several Norwegian artists doing their versions of Egil Olsen's hits. Egil has been busy as of late working on a new album, aiming for an August release. Experience the brilliance of Egil Olsen in his brand new visual for “Better Man” HERE and contact Kai Robřle at kai@waterfall.no as Egil is available for booking, label, synch, brand and management opportunities.
