SALAAM REMI SIGNS WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH PEERMUSIC

Pictured L-R are: Kathy Botich (SVP Admin, peermusic); Tuff Morgan (Director of A&R, Pop/Urban, peermusic); Kathy Spanberger (President & Chief Operating Officer, peermusic); Salaam Remi, Carter Armstrong (SVP Film/TV, peermusic); Tim Cohan (Senior Vice President, Legal & Business Affairs, peermusic), and Yvonne Drazan (Vice President, Latin Division, West Coast, peermusic)
Following a competitive bidding process between multiple publishers, multi-platinum producer Salaam Remi has finalized an exclusive worldwide administration deal with peermusic. The news was announced last week by peermusic’s President & COO, Kathy Spanberger, and Tuff Morgan, Director of A&R, Pop/Urban. As one of the most successful and well-known producers in music, Remi’s credits include hits for artists such as Nas, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Miguel, The Fugees, Jazmine Sullivan, Ricky Martin and many others. In addition to his work with artists, Remi has also had major placements in film, including being Executive Music Producer for Rush Hour 3, as well as for film versions of Sex in the City and Sex in the City 2.

“peermusic’s deal with Salaam is exciting for everyone here, especially our creative team. He’s truly one of music’s premier global talents, and he has an incredible catalog of music that demonstrates that. I also want to congratulate Tuff on this signing - he worked extremely hard on this deal and I’m thrilled we got it done,” said Spanberger.

Tuff Morgan commented, “Partnering with someone with Salaam’s talent and accomplishments is always exciting, but it’s pretty rare when that person is also one of your great friends in the industry. I remember first meeting Salaam as a studio runner in the 90’s and then eventually collaborating on an album together, so to be closing a deal with him today as his publishing creative manager is a very special moment for me.”

Alongside this recent partnership, Remi’s LIFE b4 Music and peermusic signed a JV that pre-dates his new deal. They have recently signed James Poyser (The Roots) and UK artist to watch in 2017, Miraa May, and its songwriters accounted for the recent No.1 Urban record "Amen" by Anthony Hamilton (co-written and produced by James Poyser). Remi’s song catalog was previously published by EMI/Sony/ATV.

A&R WORLDWIDE’S "ARTIST OF THE WEEK" – DEMOB HAPPY

Armed with only an arsenal of guitars and northern chips on their slender shoulders, Demob Happy are here to wage a war on cultural mediocrity and political complacency. Since their inception in 2008, this Newcastle-spawned, Brighton-based trio has a sound to match their invective, drawing on the likes of Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Melvins, The Beatles, The Stooges and Kyuss for source material. Their sound can be defined as off-kilter pop music that is heavy and intoxicating, with a set of snarling teeth. Demob Happy are returning with their first new music since their 2015 debut album Dream Soda (SO Recordings) with the new single “Dead Dreamers.” With Tom Dalgety at the helm, known for his work with Pixies, Royal Blood and Ghost, the new track is a force of nature. Listen to “Dead Dreamers” HERE and contact james@silvascreen.co.uk for general label inquiries and charlotte@silvascreen.com for licensing opportunities.

A&R WORLDWIDE’S "VIDEO OF THE WEEK" – WILD YOUTH

Irish four-piece Wild Youth consists of David Whelan (vocals/guitar), Conor O’Donohoe (keyboard/vocals), Ed Porter (guitar/vocals) and Callum McAdam (drums). Best friends since childhood, Conor and David have always been making music together but it wasn’t until they met Callum and Ed in early 2016 that Wild Youth was born. Aware of each other from many years of playing in different bands, they were eventually drawn together by a mutual love of rock and pop in equal measures. Once together, they went straight into the studio and started working on their vision of creating songs that you’ll want to have with you throughout the day; at home, at work, in the club and in the pub. Wild Youth released their debut single “All or Nothing” a month ago, which has now achieved over 150,000 plays on Spotify. A catchy pop song with driving guitars and a big chorus, it currently sits in the Top 40 of the Irish radio chart and is aiming to be the hit of the summer. The band performed at the Sea Sessions Festival this past weekend, are set to play the Longitude Festival in July and the Indiependence Festival in August, in addition to headline shows for the fall and the release of a second single. Watch the music video for “All Or Nothing” HERE and contact Niall Morris at Niall@lbw.ie as Wild Youth are available for label, publishing, synch, merchandise and brand opportunities.
