Sony/ATV Music Publishing has extended its worldwide deal with multi-Grammy-winning songwriter, musician and producer Greg Kurstin in addition to launching a JV seeking to sign songwriters and musicians. The new long-term agreement comes following Kurstin’s most successful year yet, having garnered four honors at this year’s Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year for his work with Adele, and scoring a global No.1 as the co-writer of Sia’s “Cheap Thrills.”

The new JV with Kurstin will provide a platform to sign new songwriters and producers with the first signing as emerging songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Wendy Wang, while songwriter Jesse Shatkin, who was brought by Kurstin to Sony/ATV and has had hits with acts such as Sia, One Direction and Fall Out Boy, also transitions to the JV.

Working on “Hello” and 25 with Adele, Kurstin played a key role in one of the most successful music projects this side of the millennium. “Hello” became the fastest-selling download of all time in the U.S. with 1.1 million copies sold during its first week of release and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks with the parent album, 25, breaking its own records including selling 3.4 million copies in the U.S. during its first week, the highest one-week tally in the SoundScan era dating back to 1991. The album has since reached the rare RIAA Diamond milestone of 10 million U.S. sales. Globally its sales have surpassed 20 million units.

Having initially experienced success as a recording artist, firstly with the band Geggy Tah and then alongside singer Inara George as the duo The Bird and the Bee, Kurstin achieved his first notable breakthrough as a songwriter/producer for other acts with Lily Allen, beginning with her 2006 debut Alright, Still. Among Kurstin’s long list of credits is also included work with acts such as Pink, Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson, Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding, Lykke Li, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Halsey and many others. Kurstin has also worked with former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher on his forthcoming debut solo album As You Were, including co-writing and producing the hit single “Wall Of Glass,” and has spent much of 2017 producing the recently released Foo Fighters album, Concrete and Gold. He is also the main collaborator on Beck’s forthcoming album.

John Fogerty
BMG has signed an exclusive recordings deal with iconic singer/songwriter John Fogerty, with BMG set to release his new solo album and reissue his renowned solo catalog. As Co-Founder and chief music architect of Creedence Clearwater Revival, and as a solo artist, Fogerty’s works are counted among some of the most influential in American music history. BMG will launch Fogerty’s solo catalog reissue campaign starting with the 20th anniversary release of the Grammy Award-winning album Blue Moon Swamp in November.

Additional reissues to follow from Fogerty’s solo career include the chart-topping, multi-platinum, Gammy-nominated Centerfield; gold-certified and Grammy-nominated albums Eye of the Zombie and Premonition; Déjà vu (All Over Again), as well as a new Best of collection featuring highlights and favorites curated from his extensive solo catalog.

With a career spanning over five decades, Fogerty’s credits as a writer, singer and producer include hits such as “Born on the Bayou,” “Green River,” “Proud Mary,” and “Bad Moon Rising.” He has been honored as one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists, 100 Greatest Songwriters, and 100 Greatest Singers by Rolling Stone as well as being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, and Baseball Hall of Fame.

Additionally, BMG has finalized a recording deal with The Prodigy as they prepare to release their first album in three years worldwide through BMG in early 2018. The album, released on their Take Me To The Hospital label, will be preceded by a single later this year. The new recording deal with BMG marks an extension on the company’s relationship with the band with BMG already publishing the entire song catalogue of Liam Howlett. The Prodigy’s last album, The Day Is My Enemy, reached No.1 in the U.K., making it their sixth album to hit that position in their home territory and charted Top 10 throughout Europe and Australia and at No.2 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

Before establishing their musical union, both Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare have earned success on their own. With prior credits as varied as Madonna, Katy Perry and Swedish House Mafia, the Grammy Award winning duo have a track record in the art of crafting music for the masses. Having incredible success both domestically in Sweden and internationally, courtesy of their production and songwriting work, together they are a musical force to be reckoned with under the stage name Vargas & Lagola. Their funky debut single “Rolling Stone” was a fitting intro to the masses and an appetizer of what’s yet to come. Since that introduction earlier this year, the duo released not one, but two singles with “Dolores (The Awakening)” and “As Long As I Have To” and teamed up with Avicii for his single “Friend Of Mine.” As a surprising treat to their fans, they released their own version of the track “Sun Is Shining (Band Of Gold)” which was a song they originally wrote together with Axwell & Ingrosso a few years ago. Listen to the song HERE and contact Nina Nestlander Nina.Nestlander@umusic.com for general inquiries.

Irish quartet Wild Youth consist of David Whelan (vocals, guitar), Conor O’Donohoe (keyboard, vocals), Ed Porter (guitar, vocals) and Callum McAdam (drums). Best friends since childhood, Conor and David have always been making music together but it wasn’t until they met Callum and Ed in early 2016 that Wild Youth was born. Aware of each other from many years playing in a number of bands, they were eventually drawn together by a mutual love of rock and pop in equal measures. Wild Youth released their debut single “All or Nothing” in May to critical acclaim. The track was featured on a variety of Spotify playlists and earned over 200,000 streams. The song was also successful on radio, added to the playlists of all three national stations in Ireland, support from Radio X (UK) and on KROQ Los Angeles. The four-piece have supported the likes of Niall Horan, JP Cooper and Picture This, performed at a number of Irish festivals and played their first headline show in Dublin at The Grand Social on Friday. Earlier this month, Wild Youth released their sophomore single “Lose Control” along with a music video. In less than 24 hours, the video received over 50,000 views. Watch the video HERE and contact Niall Morris at morris.niall@gmail.com as Wild Youth are available for label signing, licensing, synch and brand opportunities.
