Beatport has made the acquisition of DJ streaming and subscription service Pulselocker Inc. via a strategic deal seeking to integrate the latter’s patented technology into Beatport’s own streaming platform later this year. Pulselocker’s software provides DJs access to an integrated "locker" of music through performance software applications such as Pioneer DJ's Rekordbox, Serato, Virtual DJ and others. Despite digital song sales in the U.S. dropping 23% last year according to Nielsen Music, Beatport has experienced growth in recent years, according to Robb McDaniels the company’s CEO, with professional DJ’s seeking higher-quality sound than the majority of streaming platforms provide while also avoiding complications due to lack of connectivity. At its 2012 launch, Pulselocker’s subscription service provided DJs with music streaming capability via the cloud using the company's technology, with no need for an internet connection. Pulselocker tracks play counts, as well as user information about cue points and loops, and delivers copyright holders with a pro rata share of the subscription revenue. Integration with the large DJ software and hardware manufacturers took years to accomplish and the company shuttered in late 2017. Beatport’s new streaming offering will launch later this year with Pulselocker customers able to sign up for the new integrated subscription and locker.

A&R WORLDWIDE’S "ARTIST OF THE WEEK" – JAZZ MORLEY

Jazz Morley is a British singer-songwriter making waves with her beautiful, soul-influenced electronica, gaining reference to the likes of Jessie Ware, Lana Del Rey and Sia. Growing up in a musical family, it was no surprise Jazz began writing songs at the piano from a young age. In 2016, Jazz self-released her singles "Bad Love” and "Take Me Down," which showcased her newly-found passion for electronic music. These songs gained immediate international praise from NYLON, Billboard, BBC Introducing, KCRW, went Top 5 on Hype Machine, as well as added to playlists across Apple Music and Spotify, which saw these songs streamed nearly 4 Million times in under a year. With this momentum, Jazz has been invited to write and collaborate with some of the UKs top producers. Continuing to release her music independently, seeing streams surge into the millions, 2017 proved her most successful year to date; along with sell out shows in London and Bournemouth with her new band, Jazz’s summer single "Safe Place" was also supported by legendary tastemaker Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 in addition to being playlisted at BBC Radio 1 as their Introducing Track Of The Week. This year has been very successful thus far with the release of her latest single "Me And My Mind,” helping Jazz earn over 5 million Spotify streams to date and her song “Bad Love” will be featured in a global advertising campaign as part of a series of short films produced for the City of Las Vegas, released later this year. Listen to “Safe Place” HERE and contact Ed Hill at ed@anekomusic.com, as Jazz Morley is available for label, signing, booking and publishing opportunities.

A&R WORLDWIDE’S "VIDEO OF THE WEEK" – TEN TONNES

Ethan Barnett admits he’s extremely shy, but the 21 year-old artist under the moniker Ten Tonnes cuts a strikingly confident figure. He possesses a breezy, seemingly effortless ability to fashion snap-crackle lyrics and earworm melodies. BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens has already emerged as an influential fan, and has backed up Ten Tonnes with regular airplay-even naming him in his Alternative Tips For 2018 list. Additional UK support came from MistaJam, Phil Taggart, Jo Whiley, John Kennedy, Radio X and BBC Introducing, while MTV profiled him as a Get To Know breaking artist and recent supports include Tom Grennan, Stereophonics and Rat Boy. From his self-released debut EP Lucy, through to his Warner Bros. Records debut Born To Lose EP, and the recent single “Cracks Between,” Ten Tonnes’ songs capture a mix of wry humor, wistfulness and poetic imagery with a real power of observation. According to Ten Tonnes, his latest track “Lay It On Me,” produced by regular collaborator Hugo White (Maccabees, Matt Maltese), is about telling someone if they need you, you’ll be there. Ten Tonnes is signed to Warner Brothers, published by BMG and represented by Matt Bates at Primary.
