A&R WORLDWIDE SUPPORT LEADS TO SONY SIGNING & MORE FOR UK BUZZ ACT THE CHEVIN

The Chevin
The Leeds, England–based four–piece international buzz act The Chevin have signed multiple label deals after their recent support from A&R Worldwide including a featured placement in one of the world’s biggest selling video games FIFA 2013 on EA Games. They’ve also signed with Sony Music for Germany, Switzerland, Austria (G/S/A) and Just Music in South Africa, as well as being in the midst of finalizing an Australasian deal, all with support from A&R Worldwide.

The Chevin have been touted as one of the best new British rock acts in quite some time, with early plays in the UK from BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music and international radio support. The band have signed in the UK to the independent SO Recordings in partnership with the historically successful and ultra–cool indie Fierce Panda. They will appear on the “David Letterman Show” in the US this month and will support one of the world’s biggest rock bands later this year on their European tour.

Pete Galli, worldwide manager of The Chevin stated, “Every great artist I've worked with has had multiple cultural moments that have been game changers for their career. But, before these cultural moments, they have had an industry moment. For our new artist The Chevin from Leeds, UK, this moment happened at this year's MUSEEXPO in Los Angeles, which was organized by A&R Worldwide

Coupled with the strength of our partnership with new UK Indie label powerhouse So Recordings, the Chevin’s strong performance at MUSEXPO directly led to licening deals for the band with Sony Germany, Just Music in South Africa and another deal for Australasia. A&R Worldwide also introduced the Chevin to multiple international radio progammers world wide as well as EA Games which led to a sync of their debut single, “Champion” into EA Games’ FIFA 2013.

Adam Greenup, Head of So Label Recordings said, “The old adage of ‘let the music do the talking’ really came true with The Chevin in Los Angeles. They nailed the set and the place went wild.! It helped that the audience at MUSEXPO was made up of the music industry's most influential people – we have been fielding calls and enquiries about the band ever since and had some great results with more big news to be announced shortly. When you have a band that can go and deliver live then there is no better entry point to the industry than MUSEXPO or music champion as A&R Worldwide.”

Sat Bisla, President & Founder of A&R Worldwide and MUSEXPO added, “When I first was introduced to The Chevin by Simon Williams at Fierce Panda early last year, I knew they were special. So Recordings and Pete Galli have done an amazing job in guiding and supporting the band and developing their debut album, Borderland, which is quite simply a ‘masterpiece’! I’m proud that A&R Worldwide has had the privilege of providing key development and support for artists such as Coldplay, Keane, Muse and The Temper Trap at pivotal moments in their early careers [pre–signing in the US and/or worldwide along with their management teams] and I’m proud that we’ve been able to play a key part in the key early development and support of an incredible act such as The Chevin, which we are happy to add to A&R Worldwide’s esteemed list of quality global talent nurturing and market development.”

RECORD INDUSTRY ICON TEAMS UP WITH INDIE LABEL

Jack Joseph Puig
Grammy winning and iconic record producer Jack Joseph Puig has become Co–CEO of an indie record label, Land Run Records. As one of the most in–demand record producers/executives in the business, he has collaborated with The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, The Black Crowes, Keith Urban, Katy Perry and Mary J. Blige.

Co–CEOs Jack Joseph Puig and Eddie Grant have decided to keep their main office in Oklahoma, where Grant started Land Run Records three years ago. When Puig was asked why he joined Land Run he said, “My decision to do anything in the entertainment field is always driven by the artists and their songs. Kylie Morgan and the other Land Run musicians are fantastic songwriters and great artists.

Land Run’s first recording artist, seventeen–year–old Kylie Morgan, was featured last week in “Opening Act,” a reality show shown on E! which A&R Worldwide helped introduce to Executive Producer Nigel Lythoe via a script they received written by entertainment executive Steve Schnur. Morgan has already opened to a packed house at a recent concert by country giant Jason Aldean. One of the songs she sang, “Phoebe,” sheds light on the problem of bullying. “Phoebe” was written upon hearing the news about a young girl, Phoebe Prince, who committed suicide after being bullied.

Kylie has traveled to schools ever since, delivering her bullying prevention message “It matters what we do.” She is also a government spokesperson for Pacer.org. “Kylie is every record maker’s and every record executive’s dream, added Puig. She was also named “Who New to Watch” by the Country Music Association in 20l0, and her video “Phoebe” won numerous state and regional awards.

“We nourish our artists and chase the song. We have all the benefits of an indie label, and don’t let corporate pressures drive decisions,” said Puig. We allow our instincts and the artists’ visions to be our compass. I was delighted to join this team and use my experience to bring signed artists up to their full potential. Two other Land Run artists named “Who New to Watch” by the CMA this year are Nicnos and Lower 40.

Puig and Grant are also executive producers for a reality show, now in production, called “I’m a Star.” Also in the works is Land Run’s newest band, Kalamity Jane, a female foursome including three contestants discovered during the shooting of “I’m a Star.”

So here we are, proud as f*ck, welcoming one of the most hopefully and authentic bands to the Nuclear Blast family. Everyone at the label loves ORCHID and so will everyone else!”

A&R WORLDWIDE’S "ARTIST OF THE WEEK" – THE BLUE VAN

Growing up in the northern region of Denmark’s Jutland peninsula, there aren’t a lot of distractions. So, one quickly tends to entertain themselves. That was the rationale of the four members of The Blue Van, who in sixth grade began jamming in the basement of a fortunately hard–of–hearing grandmother. After adopting the name The Blue Van (Danish slang for the ambulance that transports patients to mental institutions), they relocated to Copenhagen and self–financed their first EP, A Session with The Blue Van, and backed it up with an acclaimed performance at the Roskilde Festival. They recorded their debut full–length, The Art of Rolling, in Hamburg, opting to record live in the studio, only adding in vocals later, in order to capitalize on the band’s live strengths. The album landed them an American deal with TVT Records and the group started splitting time between Denmark and the Bed/Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn while recording their second album, Dear Independence. Now with the indie Iceberg Music Group, The Blue Van returned to Hamburg to record their third album, Man Up, which spawned the hit song “Silly Boy.” They’ve been all over the international airwaves with “There Goes My Love,” which was utilized in Apple’s TV campaign for the iPad. Their fourth album, Love Shot, was released two years ago, where Allmusic.com gave it 3.5 stars. Since then, they’ve returned with their latest release, “Would You Change Your Life?” which can be sampled here. You can also play the WYCYL video game available now on their website, www.wouldyouchangeyourlife.com. For available opportunities, please contact Iceberg Music Group President/Owner, Manfred Zähringer at manfred@icebergmusicgroup.com. To listen to the single, click HERE.

A&R WORLDWIDE’S "VIDEO OF THE WEEK" – KIDFORCE

Alternative and fan videos have been around for years. As most are made as a compliment to the original, some even go above and beyond and are considered a viral hit. That is the case for the video recently created as an ode to the gorgeous Australian athlete Michelle Jenneke to the tune of “Brunettes (Do It Better)” by KIDFORCE. For those unfamiliar with Jenneke, she’s an Australian hurdler, who was part of the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games. Even though she’s not in the Olympics this year (she placed fifth in the 2012 IAFF World Junior Championships 100 meters hurdles), she is still raising her public profile. Video of the IAFF World Junior Championships from July 15th has been edited to the KIDFORCE track and has been popping up on multiple blogs and social sites, igniting the views on YouTube with over 130,000 views in just the past two weeks alone. KIDFORCE will appeal to fans of Skrillex and LMFAO – in fact, he’s building a buzz in Los Angeles similar to the one LMFAO did originally. Fan of hurdling or not, this is a great video that is a fun watch. For available licensing and synch opportunities worldwide, contact Victor Krylov at victor@slicemenicemusic.com.
