ANTON POWERS NAMED HEAD OF A&R AT MINISTRY OF SOUND RECORDS ANTON POWERS NAMED HEAD OF A&R
AT MINISTRY OF SOUND RECORDS

Ministry of Sound

Sony Music Entertainment UK has announced today that DJ and producer Anton Powers will be joining Ministry of Sound Records as Head of A&R. Widely considered one of the industry’s leading dance A&R executives, Powers will start with immediate effect and will report into Dipesh Parmar, President of Columbia Records UK.
Anton Powers
Powers joins Ministry of Sound following three years at Warner Records, where he signed breakthrough artist LF System, who spent a record-equaling eight weeks at the top of the charts in 2022 with “Afraid to Feel”, and co-signed Eliza Rose who topped the charts with “B.O.T.A. (Baddest of Them All),” making her the first female DJ to claim a UK No.1 in more than two decades.

Parmar stated, “Anton lives and breathes dance music and is well respected in the scene. I’m delighted to have him join the label. He is at the top of his game and I’m confident he is the best person to help Ministry of Sound continue to sign and develop the artists of the future.”

Throughout his celebrated career as an A&R executive he has also been responsible for signing artists including Armand Van Helden, Martin Solveig, Kungs, Sigma, Duck Sauce, Philip George, M-22, Jodie Harsh and many more.

SEEKER MUSIC ACQUIRES JOHN RYAN AND JON BELLION'S CATALOGS SEEKER MUSIC ACQUIRES JOHN RYAN
AND JON BELLION’S CATALOGS

Seeker Music

Seeker Music has acquired the catalogs of two of today’s most influential pop songwriters: John Ryan (over 40 One Direction songs, Maroon 5, John Legend) and Jon Bellion (Miley Cyrus, Camila Cabello, Eminem).
Separately, Seeker has acquired select catalogs from two of its fellow songwriter-helmed music companies: Family Affair Productions (Julian, Damon and Peter Bunetta), and Kara DioGuardi’s Arthouse Entertainment. The Family Affair deal includes their share of John Ryan’s publishing as well as their share of publishing rights from another of today’s top songwriters, Teddy Geiger, while the Arthouse deal includes that company’s share of Jon Bellion’s publishing. The songwriter-led, creator-focused perspective that Seeker brings to the catalog space was a significant factor in leading the songwriters, and songwriter-helmed companies, to choose Seeker. Led by CEO Evan Bogart, a chart-topping songwriter himself (Beyoncé’s “Halo,” among others), Seeker only signs catalogs of songs that Bogart and his team are incredibly passionate about, genuine personal fans of, and for which they see intrinsic creative opportunity.
Pictured (L-R) are Seeker Music CFO Jennifer Scher, CEO Evan Bogart, COO Rob Guthrie, Head of Creative Steven Melrose.
What else separates Seeker is the opportunity for songwriters to place their catalogs in the hands of not just a fellow creator in Bogart, but a peer and a contemporary. Over the last decade through to today, Bogart, Ryan, Bunetta and Bellion all “came up” alongside one another.

Now known for co-writing and producing the albums that led One Direction into superstardom (and thus changed the face of the music industry by re-energizing the boy band format for the 21st century, and launching some of today’s top solo artists), John Ryan was working in a small studio underneath Peter Bunetta’s house when he first met Bogart.

While developing their respective songwriting careers, Bogart and Ryan’s paths crossed often. They both collaborated frequently with Julian, and Ryan went on to write many of his hits with Ricky Reed, a then-publishing client of Bogart’s, including Jason Derulo’s chart-topper “Wiggle” and Pitbull’s “Fireball.”

Steven Melrose, Head of Creative for Seeker, also intersected with Ryan over the years. As Sr. A&R at Capitol Records, he first met Ryan through the Bunettas, and also worked on those One Direction records, too, when he was at Sony in the UK. Melrose was introduced to former Island Records President Nick Gatfield by A&R Worldwide Founder Sat Bisla, which led to the hiring of first major label A&R role in the UK back in the mid-2000’s.

A&R WORLDWIDE'S VIDEO OF THE WEEK - WAITING FOR SMITH A&R WORLDWIDE’S "VIDEO OF THE WEEK" – WAITING FOR SMITH

Waiting for Smith
On October 9, 2022, emerging British artist Harry Lloyd, aka Waiting For Smith, asked 63 random people on the streets of Amsterdam, “What is it that you really want to heal?” He asked each one of them to write their answer on his own naked body and it was all captured on camera for his latest track “Heal.” Harry knows a lot about the need to heal. Seven years ago, as a young ski instructor in the French Alps, he had a tragic accident and broke his back in two places. Fighting for breath on the helicopter ride to the hospital, he had an epiphany that, if he survived, he would dedicate his life to music. Since then, this GQ and Rolling Stone-approved songwriter has earned international support with airplay on over 250 global radio stations, including endorsements from Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Dermot O’Leary and Jo Whiley (Radio 2), Shaun Keaveny and Tom Robinson (6 Music), and BBC Music Introducing Oxford and London, “World Famous” KROQ Los Angeles, FLUX FM Germany, KNDD “The End” Seattle and many others. He has toured Europe and the U.S. supporting Kawehi, and performed at numerous festivals including Latitude, Wilderness, Electric Picnic, Port Elliot, EA Festival, Idler Festival and Truck He has garnered over two million streams on Spotify, assembled thousands of loyal followers on his socials, earned nearly 100,000 Shazam’s and has had over 2,000 international syncs, including the Japanese Grand Prix, TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé, Netflix’s acclaimed prison drama Vis a Vis (Locked Up in English) and, most recently, the moving five million viewed YouTube story of world-famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s wife Georgina. At the end of 2022, Waiting For Smith released his Trying Not To Try EP (Four One Seven Records), featuring the singles “Run”, “Skylight Dawn”, and, of course, “Heal.” Discover the moving and inspiring video for “Heal” HERE, and contact info@anrworldwide.com, as Waiting For Smith is available for booking, publishing, synch and collaboration opportunities.
