After the successful release of “Hold Your Colour,” Korda was instrumental in propelling our career to new heights. His passion, commitment, and understanding of our music were transformative, and we look forward to this new chapter with a familiar face. We hope to make this phase of our career the most exciting one yet, and elevate our sound to unprecedented levels.”

Korda Marshall added, “It’s a great pleasure to be back working with Rob and the Pendulum team. We’re all so proud of the solid success Rob has achieved over the years — they were way ahead of their time as pioneers and originators of hybrid electronic/rock/drum and bass that inspired a whole generation and resonates strongly across music today. This is our first joint venture signing with Virgin and is coming on the back of our recent top three Album success with the DMA’S and current launch of Mia Wray. It demonstrates how we can partner with artists of this caliber and bring a powerful, global team that works seamlessly to help them reach another level.”

The new music is phenomenal, and we can’t wait to get it to new audiences around the globe. With three Platinum albums to their name including renowned debut Hold Your Colour and a UK No.1 and No.22 for “Immersion” and “In Silico”, the drum and bass / rock band from Perth, Australia have sold over a million albums in the UK alone.

Sony Music Records

Music industry veteran Barry Weiss has struck a new deal with Sony Music to reconfigure ownership over his RECORDS label. As reported by Billboard, the deal buys out his former partners in a new joint venture that is directly between him and Sony Music.
Barry Weiss
RECORDS launched in 2015 with his former partners, Matt Pincus and Ron Perry. In 2017, they entered into a joint venture with Sony Music for the label that was renewed for another three years in 2020. With the deal coming to term, Weiss and his original partners hired Brian Richards of Artisan to shop for a new equity partner.

With a roster that includes 24K Goldn and Noah Cyrus, RECORDS was reported to have generated around $20 million (USD) by the end of 2022 in annual revenue.

As a result of the deal, Sony now owns RECORDS catalog and all of its other masters from the original joint venture. The recent signings, however, are likely part of the new joint venture that is collectively owned by Sony and Weiss. This will include signings such as Matt Stell, Kimberly Perry, and iCandy.

Pincus and Perry are no longer owners in RECORDS. Perry took on the role as Chairman & CEO of Columbia Records several years ago, which is the distributing label for many of RECORDS’ releases.

I hope that our joint venture will carry Arabic music to wider audiences all around the world, and I am very hopeful that together we can push the boundaries of Arabic music.”

Alfonso Perez-Soto, President, Emerging Markets, Warner Recorded Music, finishes: “Maya is an exceptional artist – she has an amazing voice and a powerful stage performance. I can’t wait for everyone to be able to hear her new EP later this year and for the impact our partnership will bring to her music style and reach. Music has no geographical limits and the potential across the Middle East and North Africa is vast, so I’m confident Maya’s partnership with Warner Music Middle East will see her music break into new territories and find new audiences.”
