VIRGIN MUSIC GROUP PARTNERS WITH MOM+POP MUSIC
Mom+Pop Music has entered into a new global alliance with Virgin Music Group, strengthening the independent label’s reach and resources while continuing to uphold its artist-first ethos. The partnership is designed to fuel the label’s long-term growth, while Mom+Pop remains independently owned and operated by Co-Founders Michael Goldstone and Thaddeus Rudd.

Founded in 2008, Mom+Pop was built around an alternative model to the major-label system, one that prioritizes creative freedom, authentic connections, and career longevity for artists. Sixteen years on, the label’s roster features acclaimed acts such as MGMT, Caamp, Del Water Gap, and Magdalena Bay, alongside rising voices like Mother Soki, After, Violent Vira, Galdive, The Kilans, Chaparelle, and Tiny Habits.
Goldstone, a seasoned A&R executive, and recipient of the “Seymour Stein – Global A&R Award” as this year’s MUSEXPO is known for helping launch Pearl Jam, Cage The Elephant, Rage Against the Machine, and Regina Spektor, has led Mom+Pop with Rudd in championing artists across genres. The label’s approach has nurtured Grammy-nominated talent including Courtney Barnett, Flume, and Tycho, while also introducing acts such as FKJ, Orion Sun, and underscores.
The label’s history is marked by significant milestones, including Flume’s Grammy-winning album Skin, which produced the multi-Platinum global hit “Never Be Like You” (over two billion streams), as well as Ashe‘s Platinum-certified “Moral of the Story” and Beach Bunny‘s singles “Prom Queen” and “Cloud 9.”
Beyond its label operations, Goldstone and Rudd recently launched PIPES Music, a creative and digital agency that develops content and social strategies for Mom+Pop artists and external clients alike.
With offices in New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville, Mom+Pop has been consistently recognized by Rolling Stone, Billboard, Variety, and The New York Times, and continues to be featured prominently on Billboard‘s Indie Power Players list.
Michael Goldstone, Founder and Co-Owner of Mom+Pop Music, said, “Partnering with the team at Virgin is positively the right fit for us, they’ve been the most flexible and respectful of our ethos and independence. Thaddeus and I have worked with JT, Nat, Jacqueline, and Jeremy in different capacities over the years, and that shared history, along with their entrepreneurial spirit, was the catalyst for this partnership.”
Jacqueline Saturn, President of North America & EVP, Global Artist Relations Virgin Music Group stated, “Goldie made a significant impact on my career, showing me how A&R and artist development go hand in hand. I’ve watched Goldie and Thaddeus build such a meaningful roster and outstanding team at Mom+Pop. Their ability to identify, nurture, and break independent artists with authenticity and heart is truly exceptional. We can’t wait to get started.”

ALL ABOUT MUSIC IN MUMBAI
SPOTLIGHTS INDIA’S GROWING GLOBAL INFLUENCE
The All About Music 2025 (AAM) conference in Mumbai powerfully affirmed India’s ascent as a dynamically evolving force in the global music ecosystem. With this being its 9th edition, held from August 20 – 22 at the Grand Hyatt, the conference adopted the theme “Momentum – Turning Moments into Movements,” underscoring the rapid pace of transformation sweeping the industry.
Over three immersive days, AAM dissected compelling trends, from breakthroughs in regional-language music and evolving artist development strategies, to critical conversations around music policy and AI-driven innovations. Case studies, panels, and keynote talks brought these topics to life. A new highlight this year, “Pitch to Investors,” provided a dedicated platform for early-stage music-tech startups to present before a panel of leading investors, including Apurva Chamaria, Karan Grover (Dolby Labs), and Tarun Bhargava with the goal of unlocking mentorship, funding, and strategic ties.
The conference showcased a vibrant speaker roster: from celebrated artists like Adnan Sami, Sid Sriram, Sushin Shyam, Shreya Ghoshal, and Javed Akhtar, to global industry leaders such as Victoria Oakley (CEO, IFPI) Paul Pacifico (CEO, Music Commission, Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture), and TuneCore‘s Cyrus Chen, as well as A&R Worldwide President & Founder, Sat Bisla who has played a pivotal “behind the scenes” part in supporting India’s rise over the past twenty years. Rising indie talents like Reble and KAVYA also made their debut on the conference stage.
Brimming with networking zones, immersive showcases, and interactive panels, All About Music served as a vibrant crossroads for music professionals, creators, and cultural visionaries. It offered a powerful stage to convert today’s creative surges into lasting industry movements and showcased India’s burgeoning potential as a global music powerhouse. The event returns next year and will celebrate its 10 years anniversary milestone.
Here is a snapshot of some of A&R Worldwide’s interactions with its peers in Mumbai, India this past weekend.

Each week, A&R Worldwide shares a snapshot of creatives and executives that we have collaborated or worked with in various music markets around the world, albeit in recent or previous times!

A&R Worldwide is known for bringing together some of the most interesting people from around the world, f
Mel Medalie is a legendary music executive who founded Champion Records (DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Salt ‘N’ Pepa, Robin S, Todd Terry, Kerri Chandler, Raze, and Farley “Jackmaster” Funk and others), and Cheeky Records (Dido, Faithless, Skinny).
He started out working with Brian Epstein (manager of the Beatles) in Liverpool and eventually moved to London to work as an intern at David Bowie‘s music publishing company. Eventually, in the late 70s, he started his own record label called Polo Records, which was inspired by Mel’s visit to The Beverly Hills Hotel and its Polo Lounge. Polo Records’ big hit came from signing Liquid Gold who had a No.1 U.K. hit with “Dance Yourself Dizzy.”
Mel also gave renowned global DJ and producer Paul Oakenfold his first-ever job as an A&R guy when he was 18 years old, and Paul went on to be one of the biggest DJs in the world. Oakenfold gives Mel a lot of credit for being his early believer, supporter, and mentor.
Mel has also been a longtime friend and mentor to A&R Worldwide President & Founder, Sat Bisla – the two spent many years working together including Sat providing some early A&R input and support to Faithless and Dido who became two of the U.K.’s biggest acts of the 90s. He’s also been a mentor and friend to legendary Danish-born A&R executive Martin Dodd who manages globally renowned chart-topping producer and songwriter Max Martin. Dodd was involved with Ace of Bass, Rednex, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and more, as well as being heavily involved behind the scenes with the TV show The Voice.
Mel, Martin, and Sat have enjoyed numerous musical international adventures during their almost 30-year friendship, proving that music connects a human bond that is timeless and impactful.
FOOL NELSON
Western Australia’s indie-rock trio Fool Nelson are on a serious roll. After selling out their first-ever national headline tour with packed rooms from Perth to Sydney, the band is keeping the momentum alive with “Bad Dreams,” a radiant, introspective cut that cements their reputation as one of Australia’s most exciting new acts. The track pairs Fool Nelson’s signature sun-soaked grooves with sweeping guitar lines and Tom Broadbent‘s earnest, gravel-edged vocals. Lyrically, it cuts into the cycles of anxiety and self-doubt that cloud perspective, but it does so with an undercurrent of catharsis and hope, reminding listeners that even in the haze, there’s light to be found. The band describes it as “a song about the ebbs and flows of mental health…a reflection on times when everything seems like it’s gone to crap, but also a reminder to step back and appreciate the good things that help get you through.” That blend of raw honesty and infectious melody has become Fool Nelson’s calling card. Their breakout single “Don’t Feel Right” dominated Australian radio, climbing Shazam charts and becoming triple j‘s most-played track for weeks, while the trio’s latest EP Falling Apart earned widespread support from Spotify, Apple Music, rage, and stations across Europe. Alongside festival slots at Groovin the Moo and NYE On The Hill, they’ve become a go-to support act for the likes of Ball Park Music, Great Gable, and The Grogans. Discover “Bad Dreams” HERE and contact Nick Moran for additional information and available international opportunities relating to Fool Nelson.
From busking on the streets of Manchester to selling out his debut headline show at the city’s iconic Gorilla, 18-year-old Alex Spencer is rapidly cementing his place as one of the U.K.’s most exciting new voices. Known for his razor-sharp songwriting, magnetic stage presence, and unstoppable energy, Spencer has already earned the backing of BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Radio X, CLASH, and even landed a global spot on the EA SPORTS FC25 soundtrack with his breakout single “Nightmares.” Now, he returns with his third independent EP Where Do We Go From Here?, which is a vibrant indie-pop rush that captures the urgency and thrill of youth. Drawing on personal experiences, cultural influences from his travels across Asia, and flashes of Spanish lyricism, the release dives into love, ambition, and the questions that come with growing up in a fast-changing world. Praised by tastemakers like John Kennedy (Radio X) and Jodie Bryant (BBC Radio 1), it’s Spencer at his most confident and adventurous yet. The single’s cinematic video, shot in Manchester and directed by Sam Crowston, pulses with the same charisma he brings to the stage, a presence that’s earned him slots at TRNSMT, Sound City, and support shows with The Black Keys, Miles Kane, Jamie Webster, The K’s, and Seb Lowe. With upcoming dates supporting Corella (Sept 17th, London) and The Sherlocks (Oct 10th), Alex Spencer is proving he’s not just one to watch, he’s one to follow closely. Experience the visual for “Where Do We Go From Here?” HERE, and contact Nikki Arkadia, as Alex Spencer for all global booking, sync, and brand opportunities.

HYBE LABEL ADOR NAMES SECOND NEW CEO IN A YEAR: HYBE-owned label ADOR, home to K-pop sensation NewJeans, has named Lee Do-kyong as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Kim Ju-young, who held the role for just one year. According to South Korean media reports on August 20, Lee has been with HYBE since 2019, back when the company operated under the name Big Hit Entertainment. She played a key role in corporate strategy and new business development before stepping into the leadership of HYBE’s IPX division in 2022. In that role, Lee managed merchandise strategy, pop-up stores, global licensing, and light stick operations across HYBE’s roster. She also oversaw initiatives like “The City”, an immersive fan-experience program that extended artist branding throughout cities hosting HYBE concerts. Lee’s appointment follows Kim’s exit after only a year in charge. Kim himself had been brought in during August 2024, following the ouster of Min Hee-Jin, ADOR’s Co-Founder and the creative force behind NewJeans. Min’s departure came amid a widely reported power struggle, with HYBE accusing her of attempting to take control of the subsidiary.

This ensures organizations can collaborate securely across multiple systems while keeping complete control over how their metadata is viewed or edited at each stage. The launch of OrgLink comes on the heels of strong momentum for Noctil. To date, the platform has processed more than 100 million sound recordings, supported over 100,000 catalog registrations, and facilitated payments to 50,000 rights-holders over the past five years. Founded in 2016, Noctil operates out of the U.S. and India and is a member of both DDEX and the Music Business Association.
