SEEKER MUSIC ANNOUNCES NEW HIRES

Seeker Music, the creator-led rights, publishing, and record company founded by M&G Investments and guided by songwriter and executive Evan Bogart, is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a wave of leadership changes and fresh hires, plus a recent anniversary celebration at its Los Angeles Frogtown creative campus.

Since launching in 2020, Seeker has grown into a $300 million (USD) powerhouse with a catalog of more than 17,000 copyrights, including 38 tracks in Spotify‘s Billion Club. The company’s mission has focused on acquiring catalogs it loves and providing timeless songs with the support typically given to new releases.

Pictured (L-R) are Rose Campbell, Andrew Grant, Steven Melrose, Evan Bogart, Todd von Mende, Jennifer Blakeman, Dan Stuart, John Bowditch, and Ahyiesha Sarnor.

That approach has yielded strong results. In 2025, Seeker was named No.2 on Fast Company‘s “Most Innovative Music Companies” list. Its catalog also powered Shaboozey‘s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which flipped J-Kwon‘s “Tipsy” into the longest-running Billboard No.1 of all time. Other highlights include a creative resurgence for Christopher Cross, a landmark partnership with Joan Jett and Blackheart Records, and the launch of Samplémoose, Seeker’s proprietary initiative for reinventing legacy hits through collaborations with contemporary producers and songwriters.

Seeker tells A&R Worldwide that it is also strengthening its leadership team. Steven Melrose has been elevated to Chief Creative Officer after serving as Global Head of Creative. Since 2021, he has led major acquisitions and campaigns for catalogs including Joan Jett, Christopher Cross, Run the Jewels, and more. Todd von Mende joins as Chief Financial Officer, bringing senior experience from DreamWorks Animation and Saban Music Group. John Bowditch is promoted to Vice President of Marketing & Innovation, recognized for campaigns spanning Christopher Cross, Run the Jewels, and artists Caroline Kingsbury and CARR. Andrew Grant steps in as Vice President of A&R after a run at Atlantic/Warner Music, where he worked with Cardi B, Ava Max, David Guetta, and others – Grant was introduced to Seeker Music CEO Evan Bogart by A&R Worldwide. Ahyiesha Sarnor joins as Attorney, Legal & Business Affairs, following her work at Cutting Edge Media. Rose Campbell is named Director of Marketing, bringing expertise from SoundCloud and The Spellbound Group. Donald McGill signs on as Director of Investments, with prior roles at Warner Chappell, Kobalt, and Open On Sundays. Brett Wilson becomes Royalties Manager, leveraging experience at BMI and Universal Music Publishing. Martin Chisel joins as Rights & Royalties Coordinator, moving from BMG.

Seeker CEO, Evan Bogart, said, “From day one, Seeker has been reimagining what a modern music and rights company can be. As a creator-first company, we have built a business that treats songs not only as legacies to preserve, but as fuel for what’s next. Five years in, the results speak for themselves: record-breaking hits, catalogs revitalized with new energy, new fans and fandom, and a redefinition of what creative catalog management can mean. Also, we’ve shown that a creator-led company can deliver real value for our partners and investors. None of it happens without this team. Their passion, talent, and vision drive everything we do. As we celebrate this milestone, I’m more energized than ever for what’s ahead: the music we’ll champion and the culture we’ll continue to serve.”

HYBE Latin America has unveiled S1ENTO Records, a new label dedicated to regional Mexican music. The imprint will be overseen by Myrna Pérez, who steps in as General Manager from Los Angeles. An Emmy-nominated executive, Pérez previously worked across Netflix, Telemundo, Hulu, and NBCUniversal, and was the founding director of Zoe Saldaña‘s BESE. “With S1ENTO Records, we want to open a path for emerging artists to grow with professionalism, discipline, and creative freedom,” said Isaac Lee, Chairman & CEO of HYBE Americas. “Following the vision of Bang Si-Hyuk, who has always believed in empowering talent from its roots and projecting it globally, our mission is to transform local talent into sustainable projects with an impact that transcends borders.”

SHABOOZEY & EMPIRE FORM NEW LABEL – AMERICAN DOGWOOD

Pictured (L-R) are Jared Cotter, Shaboozey, and Abas Pauti

The first artist to sign with American Dogwood is Nashville-based songwriter Kevin Powers, who co-wrote Shaboozey’s recent hit with Jelly Roll, “Amen,” which has already surpassed 50 million streams in just three months. Powers, also behind viral singles like “Walked In,” and “How You Been?,” will release a new track with Shaboozey titled “Move On” on September 19th. Also, he’ll join Shaboozey as the opening act on the Great American Roadshow Tour, kicking off September 22nd in Indianapolis.

The new venture follows Shaboozey’s career-defining run with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” certified 8x RIAA Platinum and recognized as the longest-leading No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024. The track also topped Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay, and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts, making Shaboozey the first Black male artist to simultaneously lead both the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts.

Beyond his chart success, Shaboozey has collaborated with Beyoncé on COWBOY CARTER and seen his latest album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, debut in the Billboard 200 Top 5. He co-founded American Dogwood alongside longtime partners Jared Cotter and Abas Pauti, with EMPIRE providing global infrastructure, distribution, and strategic support.

Commenting on the launch, Shaboozey said, “American Dogwood is a tribute to where we come from, and to the artists, storytellers, and creators who make this life remarkable. Our mission is to nurture the next generation of voices and to give them a place to grow, connect, and create. This is the beginning of a new chapter – one I hope always feels like home.”

Adelaide, Australia indie-rock four-piece The Tullamarinesare back with “Idiot,” a stirring new single that captures the quiet heartbreak of friendships fading with time and distance. “It’s about the guilt of unanswered messages and missed milestones, and the bittersweet reality of losing touch, not through conflict, but through the tunnel vision of trying to get your life together in your 20s,” the band shares. The new venture is jointly owned by The Orchard and Napalm Records, the Austrian label that previously held ownership of SPV Distribution and has long been a client of The Orchard. Sony Music recently listed Napalm as one of its “select investments,” suggesting Sony/The Orchard acquired a minority stake in the label. Notably, SPV’s recorded music labels remain under Napalm’s full ownership and will now be serviced by OPEN. The Orchard highlighted that the merger “significantly expands one of the world’s largest independent record distribution networks,” strengthening its presence across the U.K., Europe, and Asia in online retail, mail order, and brick-and-mortar outlets. Leadership of the new company is as follows: Frank Uhle, formerly Managing Director of SPV, will take on the same role at OPEN. Michael Kirschnick, Senior Finance Director for The Orchard GmbH, will oversee finance and accounting. Manlio Celotti will remain a senior consultant, advising The Orchard on strategy, operations, and key client relationships.

SWEDEN’S STIM HAS LAUNCHED THE WORLD’S FIRST AI LICENSE FOR MUSIC: Swedish music rights society STIM has announced what it calls a world-first licensing deal between a collective rights organization and an AI company. The new framework, developed by STIM, is designed to let AI companies legally train their models on copyrighted music while ensuring royalties are paid back to the original creators. Under the license, compensation is generated both during the training process and using AI-generated outputs. STIM says the system is built around mandatory use of neutral third-party attribution technology. Its chosen partner, Sureel, enables AI outputs to be traced to the human work that influenced them, making revenues auditable in real time. According to STIM, this addresses one of the biggest concerns around AI in music, the lack of transparency about which works are being used and how rights holders are paid. The agreement comes as the music industry grapples with the rise of AI-generated content. A 2024 study by CISAC estimated that AI could erode up to 24% of creators’ revenues by 2028 if left unchecked. The first company to adopt STIM’s license is Songfox, a Stockholm startup that allows fans and musicians to generate legal AI compositions and covers. STIM describes the framework as “open,” meaning it can be extended to any AI company that meets its criteria, with the goal of establishing fair licensing practices across the sector. In a statement, STIM said that by combining “its collective authority with Songfox’s innovation and Sureel’s attribution system, Sweden is piloting a model that could reshape how music creators are compensated in the AI era.”
