GREGG NADEL PROMOTED TO PRESIDENT OF A&R AT WARNER RECORDS GROUP

Gregg Nadel has been promoted to President of A&R at Warner Records Group, a newly created global leadership role. Based in Los Angeles, he will report directly to Warner Records Group CEO & Co-Chairman Aaron Bay-Schuck.

Gregg Nadel

A 28-year Warner Music Group veteran, Nadel previously served as Co-Chair & Co-President of Warner Music Nashville (now Warner Records Nashville). His appointment comes amid the recent unification of Warner Records’ U.S. and U.K. divisions under the Warner Records Group structure.

In his new capacity, Nadel will oversee the group’s global A&R strategy and foster collaboration across Warner Records U.S., Warner Records U.K., and Warner Records Nashville, leveraging his experience in A&R, marketing, and artist development. Despite the closer alignment, each label will retain its own creative identity and operational independence.

Nadel will collaborate with Joe Kentish (President, Warner Records U.K.), Karen Kwak (Head of A&R, Warner Records U.S.), and Cris Lacy (Chair & President, Warner Records Nashville).

Before his time in Nashville, Nadel served as President of Elektra Entertainment for seven years and previously held leadership roles at Atlantic Records, where he began his career in 1997. Over the years, he has played a key role in the rise of artists including Ed Sheeran, and has been recognized multiple times on Billboard‘s Power 100 list.

Aaron Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson, said, “As we continue to build out Warner Records Group as a tight-knit, seamless global ecosystem, having Gregg join us at the group level will be a huge asset. He’s a rare, all-around music man, with experience in everything from signing chart-topping artists to making records to developing superstars to leading creative teams. His invaluable relationships, calm judgment, and gift for bringing out the best in world-class talent will make a real difference as we focus our combined efforts on forging long-term careers with our U.S., U.K., and Nashville teams.”

Gregg Nadel began his career in the music business at Atlantic Records after college in 1997, where he started in an A&R role and worked with legendary music executives Jason Flom and Craig Kallman.

CRIS LACY NAMED CHAIR & PRESIDENT AT WARNER RECORDS NASHVILLE

As part of Warner Records Group‘s ongoing expansion, Cris Lacy has been appointed Chair & President of the newly renamed Warner Records Nashville, previously known as Warner Music Nashville. In her new role, Lacy will report directly to Warner Records Group CEO & Co-Chairman Aaron Bay-Schuck and COO & Co-Chairman Tom Corson.

Cris Lacy

Lacy’s promotion reflects Warner’s continued effort to create a more integrated, global framework that bridges genres and markets. The formation of Warner Records Nashville will bring the label’s country music operations into closer alignment with the broader Warner Records Group team.

A highly respected executive, Lacy has spent two decades at Warner Music Nashville, rising through the A&R department before being appointed co-head of the division three years ago.

The rebranding follows Warner Music Nashville’s integration into the Warner Records structure in September 2024. To mark the transition, Warner Records Nashville has unveiled a new logo, designed in harmony with the updated Warner Records visual identity introduced in 2019.

Aaron Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson commented, “This rebrand marks an exciting new era for our flagship Nashville label — one that builds on everything that already makes it so special, guided by Cris’s extraordinary leadership. Her passion, vision, and unwavering respect for artistry define the label’s spirit and have earned the trust of the Nashville community. Together, we’re collaborating closer, and expanding the reach and opportunities for artists in a genre where the future feels limitless. This is an exciting next step as we continue to forge a global ecosystem that amplifies our competitive edge and impact for our artists.”

The company’s Nashville roster includes artists jointly inked by Warner Records and Warner Nashville, such as Gavin Adcock, Adrien Nunez, Slater Nalley, The Bends, The Castellows, and The Creekers. The combined roster now includes notable artists such as Zach Bryan, Cody Johnson, Ashley McBryde, Kenny Chesney, Dan + Shay, Bailey Zimmerman, Dasha, Cole Swindell, Gabby Barrett, Hudson Westbrook, Ingrid Andress, Randy Travis, Warren Zeiders, and many others.

Thomas Coesfeld has been chosen by Bertelsmann‘s Supervisory Board to become the company’s next Chairman & CEO. He and his brother are grandsons of Reinhard Mohn (1921–2009), the visionary who transformed Bertelsmann from a small German printing firm into a global media powerhouse.

Thomas Coesfeld

Bertelsmann, which remains entirely family-owned, encompasses several major businesses including music company BMG, television and broadcasting group RTL, book publisher Penguin Random House, and the services provider Arvato Group.

The company has not yet commented on how Coesfeld’s upcoming promotion might affect BMG or its leadership structure. There is still ample time before the transition, as 35-year-old Thomas Coesfeld will officially take over from current Chairman & CEO Thomas Rabe on January 1, 2027, following the expiration of Rabe’s contract on December 31, 2026.

Coesfeld became CEO of BMG on July 1, 2023, succeeding Hartwig Masuch, after previously serving as the company’s Chief Financial Officer from April 2021 and as Deputy CFO from October 2020.

Thomas Rabe, Chairman & CEO of Bertelsmann, said, “I am incredibly pleased with the Supervisory Board’s decision and congratulate Thomas Coesfeld on behalf of the entire Executive Board. We have worked closely and with great trust for many years, and I will do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition. Bertelsmann’s leadership will be in excellent hands with him and his team.”

Thomas Coesfeld, added, “I would like to thank the Supervisory Board, and in particular its Chairman, Christoph Mohn for the trust they have placed in me. I am very much looking forward to assuming responsibility for leading Bertelsmann. It is a challenge I will take on with the full support of the Executive Board, top management, and all employees.”

A&R Worldwide Exposed

Each week, A&R Worldwide shares a snapshot of creatives and executives that we have collaborated or worked with in various music markets around the world, albeit in recent or previous times!

ENJOYING A MUSICAL CONVERSATION IN WEST HOLLYWOOD: Having dinner together in West Hollywood, CA were (L-R): Jonathan Dickins (Founder, September Management, and worldwide manager of Adele), Sat Bisla (President & Founder, A&R Worldwide), and Steve Schnur (Worldwide Executive & President, Music, EA Games).

Jonathan Dickins has become one of the world’s top artist managers whose company September Management has shepherded the career of superstar artist Adele since she was 15 years old and also represents the likes of Rick Rubin, Corbin, Glass Animals, Little Simz, Rex Orange County, Paul Epworth, and many others. Jonathan and A&R Worldwide Founder Sat Bisla first met back in 2001, thanks to an introduction from Jonathan’s dad Barry Dickins (co-Founder, ITB) who has also been a longtime friend and mentor to Bisla.

Jonathan Dickins’ first notable management client in the early 2000s was Tom Vek who was signed to Island Records, U.K., and his first No.1 U.K. charting A&R discovery was the American singer/songwriter Gary Jules. Jules’ album featuring the Tears For Fears cover song “Mad World,” and his manager (Kevin Held) were introduced to Barry Dickins by Sat Bisla who was an A&R consultant to ITB at the time. In turn, Barry introduced Gary Jules’ music to his son Jonathan who was an A&R scout, who brought Jules to the attention of British music executive Paul Conroy. The signing led to Gary Jules having the coveted No.1 U.K. Christmas single in 2003.

Bisla was also the first DJ in the world (outside of the U.K.) to play Adele’s music on his influential globally syndicated radio program Passport Approved and did Adele’s first ever radio interview worldwide (ex-U.K.) with Steve Schnur. Bisla also worked with Jonathan Dickins in shopping Adele to U.S. record label heads and A&R executives – all of whom passed initially; however, a year and a half later Jonathan signed Adele with Columbia Records in the U.S.

Steve Schnur is one of the world’s most respected and influential executives in music and video gaming. His illustrious career has seen him work in influential and high-profile positions at MTV (during its peak), Elektra Records, Chrysalis Records, Capitol Records, as well as Arista Records. Steve is currently the Worldwide Executive & President of Music, Electronic Arts (EA) – the largest videogame producer in the world. Steve originally joined EA in 2001.

Steve Schnur and Bisla originally met in 2003 with the launch of A&R Worldwide, whereas Bisla and A&R Worldwide became music consultants to Steve and his music team at EA for over a decade. Bisla and A&R Worldwide’s team tipped off Steve and his team at EA Games to songs from artists such as Lily Allen, Klaxons, Robyn, Teddybears, LMFAO, All Mankind, Kasabian, Future Funk Squad, Nine Black Alps, Selasee, SoShy, The Chevin, and many others, whom landed sync placements in EA’s video games.

Steve Schnur also became a co-host with Bisla on his radio show Passport Approved on the late and legendary Indie 103.1FM Los Angeles for several years, where they would interview emerging global artists, A&R executives, music supervisors, and influencers from around the world. The two also did Adele’s very first radio interview in the world (ex-U.K.). Steve Schnur also created the concept for a TV show called Opening Act. When Steve presented the script to Bisla, he introduced Steve to a well-known TV producer whom he was friends with, which landed Steve’s idea on E! Network, which broadcast the show nationally across the U.S. “Opening Act” starred Lady Gaga, Rod Stewart, Nicki Minaj, Gym Class Heroes, LMFAO, and Jason Aldean.

SHOBSY

Irish pop artist Shobsy delivers a breathtaking reimagining of Bronski Beat‘s queer anthem “Smalltown Boy,” the emotional centerpiece of his debut EP Own The Night, out now via SO Recordings. A powerful blend of vulnerability and strength, Shobsy’s rendition transforms the iconic track into something deeply intimate and cinematic, a tribute to the song’s legacy and a reflection of his own journey toward self-acceptance. With a voice critics have hailed as “extraordinary” (PopMatters) and “George Michael-level” (Irish Daily Mail), Shobsy has quickly emerged as one of Ireland’s most exciting new artists. His EP Own The Night captures his evolution both personally and musically, a collection born of heartbreak, healing, and self-discovery. The video for “Smalltown Boy” mirrors this honesty through its striking simplicity, evoking the timeless poignancy of Sinéad O’Connor‘s “Nothing Compares 2 U.” Following standout performances in Los Angeles, London, and sold-out Dublin shows, Shobsy continues to expand his reach across Europe. He’ll join Dutch trio My Baby on tour this winter, with dates confirmed in Berlin (November 18th), Alkmaar (12/4), Apeldoorn (12/5), Hengelo (12/6), Arnhem (12/7), Haarlem (12/10), and Dordrecht (12/11). With widespread radio and press support (2FM, Hot Press, EARMILK, Passport Approved, PopMatters) and a sound that bridges The Weeknd, Harry Styles, and George Michael, Shobsy stands poised to bring his soulful, genre-blurring pop to global audiences. Enjoy the visual for “Smalltown Boy” HERE, and contact David Reid for all inquiries regarding licensing, live, sync, and brand opportunities with Shobsy.

WARNER MUSIC’S A&R POWERHOUSE KABIRU BELLO EXITS AFTER AN EIGHT-YEAR RUN: After a distinguished eight-year tenure, Warner Music‘s Stockholm-based A&R executive Kabiru Bello is departing from his role as Head of A&R, EMEA. The news, confirmed by Bello in a company-wide memo, marks the end of a pivotal chapter in Warner’s expansion across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Bello, who joined Warner Music Sweden in 2017, initially made his mark by founding Asylum Records Nordics in 2018. Under his leadership, the label became a regional force, signing breakout Scandinavian artists such as 1.Cuz, Aden & Jireel, Cherrie, Ricky Rich, and others. In 2022, he took on a broader mandate: he was promoted to Vice President of Global A&R for Warner Recorded Music while continuing to oversee Asylum Nordics. His most recent role as Head of A&R for EMEA, saw him shepherding cross-border talent development and bridging local sensibilities with global ambition. In his internal farewell, Bello expressed deep gratitude: “It’s truly been a journey from Sweden to the world. The support, energy, and trust I’ve received have meant more than words can express.” He also highlighted how his curiosity about culture and community drove his work connecting artists, songwriters, and producers across diverse markets and fostering a genuinely global A&R ecosystem. Simon Robson, Warner Music’s President of EMEA Recorded Music, praised Bello’s knack for forging “organic connections” between artists of diverse backgrounds. Robson called him “an A&R powerhouse” whose impact has set a new standard for cross-cultural collaboration. Before joining Warner, Bello was a musician and entrepreneur: he founded 20/20 Records, a Stockholm-based company combining a label, publisher, and management arm.

TUNEIN ACQUIRED BY CANADIAN MEDIA FIRM STINGRAY: Stingray has acquired TuneIn, in a deal worth up to $175 million (USD). According to a press release issued on November 11th, the acquisition price is based on TuneIn’s projected 2025 sales of $110 million and adjusted EBITDA of $30 million, giving the company a valuation of roughly 5.8 times its projected EBITDA. Under the agreement, Stingray will pay $150 million at closing, with an additional $25 million potentially payable one year later. The purchase was financed through a $150 million term loan drawn from Stingray’s recently renewed $500 million credit facility, supported by a consortium of Canadian banks led by National Bank Financial Markets and Caisse Desjardins. Founded in 2002, TuneIn carved out its niche in the streaming market by offering internet radio, live news, talk shows, and sports broadcasts, rather than following the on-demand subscription model of Spotify or Apple Music. Over time, it introduced a premium subscription tier that includes ad-free listening, audiobooks, and exclusive channels. Today, TuneIn Premium costs $9.99 per month in the U.S., offering commercial-free access to outlets like CNN, Fox News Radio, and MSNBC, as well as over 100,000 audiobooks, radio stations, and podcasts. With more than 75 million monthly active users across 200+ platforms and devices, including 50 automotive systems in over 100 countries, TuneIn strengthens Stingray’s foothold in both connected car audio and digital advertising. Stingray, which operates 97 radio stations and a major retail audio ad network reaching 33,500+ locations across North America, expects the integration to enhance its ad and content distribution capabilities. Stingray anticipates $10 million in operational synergies within 12 to 18 months of the deal’s completion. Once finalized, the combined company is expected to generate over $400 million in annual revenue.
