SONY MUSIC & SONY MUSIC PUBLISHING REVEAL GLOBAL DEALS WITH U.K. & THAILAND ARTISTS

U.K.-born singer-songwriter Bellah Mae has officially signed a deal with Sony Music Nashville. The announcement comes after strong momentum for Mae’s existing catalog, which has already accumulated more than 100 million streams across platforms. Alongside this news, Mae has released her latest single, “Love Me Less.” She co-wrote the track with Brigetta Truitt and Brett Truitt, who also handled production.

Standing (L-R) are Ken Robold (President & COO, Sony Music Nashville), Taylor Lindsey (Chair & CEO, Sony Music Nashville), Bellah Mae, Alistair Goldsmith (President & Co-Founder, Chosen Music), and Lexi Stringer (Director, A&R, Sony Music Nashville)

Originally from Solihull, Birmingham, Mae began making trips to Nashville through mentorship from Dolly Parton‘s management team, helping her connect with the city’s songwriting community. Her 2022 song “Boyfriend of The Year” played a key role in her breakthrough, earning seven million streams on Spotify. Since then, her presence on TikTok and Instagram has continued to grow, with her combined following now exceeding 500,000 fans.

“From the moment we met Bellah, it was clear that her talent, drive, and strong sense of identity were truly exceptional,” said Taylor Lindsey, Chair & CEO of Sony Music Nashville. “We’re honored to partner with her on this journey and can’t wait to help bring her vision to life.”

“Bellah has an extraordinary gift for storytelling,” said Alistair Goldsmith, President & Co-Founder at management firm Chosen Music. “Her ability to turn her emotions into catchy songs that feel universal is incredibly rare. To see that talent recognized by the team at Sony Music Nashville – in the city which is the home of so many of the greatest songwriters in the world – is special and rewarding for Bellah’s relentless attitude to her craft. The belief, energy, and enthusiasm the entire team has shown for Bellah, and her vision has been amazing to see, and we’re very excited for what’s ahead.”

Meanwhile, Sony Music Publishing Thailand (SMP TH) has announced a new global publishing agreement with the country’s premier songwriter and producer BOYd KOSIYABONG (Boyd).

The agreement includes Boyd’s extensive and renowned music catalog, as well as future works, and will see SMP TH providing administration services including song registration, royalty collection, and management on behalf of the songwriting legend globally.

BOYd KOSIYABONG

BOYd KOSIYABONG stated, “The journey of the songs I have written over the decades is like watching my own children grow. Finding a suitable and trustworthy home to care for these ‘children’ is paramount. I have full confidence in the international standards and expertise of Sony Music Publishing. I believe they will ensure my music is protected and continues to inspire listeners, not just in Thailand, but on a global scale.”

Tatchara Longprasert, General Manager, SMP TH added “We are thrilled to welcome BOYd KOSIYABONG and his incredible song catalog to SMP TH and we are proud to champion these great works and grow their presence on an international stage. TONY VAN DE BERKT APPOINTED CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AT UNIVERSAL MUSIC NETHERLANDS

Universal Music Group Central Europe has named Tony van de Berkt, Founder of 8Ball Music, as CEO of Universal Music Netherlands, effective immediately. He succeeds Kees van der Hoeven, who retired in December 2025, and will report to Frank Briegmann, Chairman & CEO of Universal Music Central Europe and Deutsche Grammophon.

Tony van de Berkt

Van de Berkt has more than 25 years of music industry experience, starting at BMG International Publishing in London before serving as A&R Manager at EMI Music Netherlands. In 2006, he founded 8Ball Music, which grew into one of the Netherlands’ most successful independent music companies, developing artists such as Davina Michelle, Maan, Miss Montreal, and DI-RECT.

Beyond recorded music, van de Berkt built a diversified entertainment business, producing live concepts like Beste Zangers Live and Muziekfeest van het Jaar, and providing comprehensive artist services, including brand partnerships. UMG acquired 8Ball Music in March 2025.

Frank Briegmann, Chairman & CEO Universal Music Central Europe and Deutsche Grammophon, said, “Tony has that rare combination of entrepreneurial instinct, A&R vision, and strategic leadership. As the founder of local label 8ball, he proved his ability to align creative excellence with commercial performance, while he developed artists, brands, and live concepts with long-term impact. I am confident that under his leadership, Universal Music Netherlands will further strengthen its position as a groundbreaking force within our global network.”

Tony van de Berkt, CEO Universal Music Netherlands, added, “I’m honored to have been asked by Frank Briegmann to step into the shoes of my good friend Kees van de Hoeven and succeed him as CEO of this great company. Since my initial visit to the UMG office in Hilversum, I have been impressed by the team’s expertise and attitude across various artists and projects. Both our local and international rosters already include so many extraordinary artists, so I’m looking forward to working with our talented team to take everything to the next level.”

INFLUENTIAL GLOBAL LIVE AGENT LUCY DICKINS DEPARTS WILLIAM MORRIS ENDEAVOR

Globally acclaimed live agent Lucy Dickins departs William Morris Endeavor (WME) after seven years, stepping down from her role as Global Head of Contemporary Music and Touring.

Dickins joined WME in June 2019 as Head of the agency’s U.K. Music division after more than two decades at London-based International Talent Booking (ITB). She was promoted to Co-Head of Music in 2020 and elevated to the global role in 2022 following her relocation to Los Angeles.

WHAT IN THE DICKINS!: Partaking at an A&R Worldwide executive lunch event a few weeks ago in Beverly Hills, CA were (L-R) Lucy Dickins, Aton Ben-Horin (Executive Vice President, A&R, Warner Music Group), Lisa Worden (Sr. VP Rock & Alternative, iHeartMedia / Program Director, ALT 98.7 – LA’s Alternative Rock), and Sat Bisla (President & Founder, A&R Worldwide)

Christian Muirhead, Co-Chairman, WME confirmed the news, adding that Kirk Sommer, currently Co-Head of the agency’s music division, will continue to lead the Contemporary Music business going forward.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential agents in contemporary music, Dickins has represented a roster that includes Adele, Mumford & Sons, Hot Chip, Jamie T, Little Simz, Bryan Ferry, and Mabel. At WME, she oversaw the agency’s contemporary music and touring operations across offices in Beverly Hills, New York, Nashville, London, and Sydney.

Dickins began her career as a junior product manager at U.K. independent label PWL Records before joining ITB as an assistant in the early 1990s, where she rose through the ranks to become one of the agency’s leading agents.

Her career is rooted in a prominent music industry family. Her grandfather, Percy Dickins, founded the influential British music weekly New Musical Express (NME). Her father, Barry Dickins, co-founded ITB in 1978 with a client list that included Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Her uncle, Rob Dickins, was the longtime head of Warner Music U.K., while her brother Jonathan Dickins runs September Management, whose roster includes producer Rick Rubin, Rosalía, Rex Orange County, Adele (an artist Lucy first began working with in 2005), and others.

“We wanted to share with everyone that our friend and colleague Lucy Dickins will be leaving WME,” Muirhead wrote in the internal memo.

“Over the past seven years, Lucy helped us navigate one of the most disruptive periods in the live music business. As the head of our U.K. office, she re-energized our presence in London, built a strong team, and solidified WME’s leadership in the region. Then COVID hit and she dove right in, taking on her expanded role, relocating to Los Angeles, and providing critical support to our team during an unprecedented crisis.

“On the other side of the pandemic, she led major signings, constructed innovative tour models, and brought exceptional heart and enthusiasm to our business. Kirk Sommer will continue to lead the Contemporary Music division moving forward, and we will keep you posted with further updates. Please join us in wishing Lucy the best in her next chapter.”

Kirk Sommer is also the recipient of this year’s prestigious “International Music Person of the Year” award at MUSEXPO and will be honored during a special awards ceremony at the event. He will also be interviewed at MUSEXPO by Shirley Halperin, Co-Editor-In Chief, Rolling Stone.

A&R Worldwide Exposed

Each week, A&R Worldwide shares a snapshot of creatives and executives that we have collaborated or worked with in various music markets around the world, albeit in recent or previous times!

AMONGST MUSIC BUSINESS LEGENDS AT MUSEXPO: Pictured (L-R) are Sir Lucian Grainge, CBE (Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Group), Diane Warren (Emmy, Grammy & Oscar Award Winning Songwriter), and Sat Bisla (President & Founder, A&R Worldwide / MUSEXPO)

MUSEXPO continues to be one of the most important and impactful global music business conferences and showcase events, which celebrates its 26th global edition in less than two weeks from now. Remarkably, it is one of the few existing global music business events that remains independently owned, organized, and operated with the stewardship of A&R Worldwide.

Sir Lucian Grainge, CBE (Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Group) joined A&R Worldwide and MUSEXPO Founder, Sat Bisla at MUSEXPO to honor the incredible songwriting contributions of award-winning songwriter Diane Warren as “International Music Person of the Year” back in 2014.

Sat has been a longtime friend and trusted global A&R voice to Diane Warren since 2000 when he first met her in her studio and gave some A&R feedback to one of her songs (even though he was told not to say anything) – Diane told Sat she appreciated the honesty, and they instantly became friends! Sat’s also shared a respected relationship with Sir Lucian Grainge since he was Managing Director at Polydor Records in London, England, during the late 90s, and has had a few memorable one-on-one conversations on A&R and the evolution of the global music business. Sat was also a close friend with Lucian’s late brother Nigel Grainge, who was a regular participant at MUSEXPO along with his nephew Nick Symansky who managed the late Amy Winehouse and currently manages Lola Young.

MUSEXPO originally launched as a simple dinner back in 1998 between two friends – A&R Worldwide Founder, Sat Bisla, and Dave Holmes, GM, Nettwerk Records who went on to become Coldplay‘s worldwide manager for over 23 years.

Since MUSEXPO’s launch in 2005, it has held dozens of editions across the globe, and was the first independent worldwide music business and showcase event to be held on three continents within the same year back in 2009, and 2010, under the guise of MUSEXPO in Los Angeles, MUSEXPO Europe in London, and MUSEXPO Asia Pacific in Perth, Australia (alongside a 25,000 person fan festival called One Movement For Music with A&R Worldwide event partners Michael Chugg and Sunset Events). Over the years, the confab has brought together 1000’s of speakers, tens of thousands of delegates, and thousands of artists – many of whom were signed or launched out of MUSEXPO and went on to become global success stories including Katy Perry, The Temper Trap, Jessie J, Frank Turner, LMFAO, Missy Higgins, Sheppard, Gavin James, Benny Sings, Jack Savoretti, Forest Blakk, and many more.

A&R Worldwide Artist Of The Week

KARIN ANN

Critically acclaimed Slovakian-born singer, songwriter, and actress Karin Ann opens a powerful new chapter with “all my money,” a striking single that sharpens her signature fusion of indie, folk, pop, and cinematic rock into something both intimate and commanding. The track follows “i was never yours,” which earned thousands of global spins and widespread U.S. radio support, including KCSN Los Angeles, WXRV Boston, KINK Portland, WRAL Raleigh, KCLC St. Louis, WRLT Nashville, and more, and she also recently hit No.35 on the Billboard AAA chart, making another milestone in Karin Ann’s growing international impact. Following her debut album through the telescope, praised by NME as “a confident and unflinching debut,” Karin Ann continues to evolve as a fearless storyteller. On “all my money,” she pairs poetic vulnerability with emotional precision, weaving rich alternative textures with the cultural influences of her Central European and Middle Eastern heritage. The result is expansive yet deeply personal, balancing fragility with quiet defiance. With over 25 million streams and screen appearances in The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Orion, Karin Ann is building a world that transcends genre and medium. “all my money” stands as another bold step forward, raw, resonant, and unmistakably her own. Enjoy “all my money” HERE as Karin Ann prepares for her MUSEXPO Los Angeles showcase at S.I.R. Hollywood on Sunday, March 22nd. For more information and to learn about available opportunities with Karin Ann, please contact George Trabelssie for all opportunities worldwide pertaining to Karin Ann.

GIRLI

Fearless British alt-pop provocateur girli returns with “Slap on The Wrist,” a blistering new single and video that transforms rage into resistance. Confronting a culture where perpetrators of abuse too often escape accountability, girli delivers an unflinching protest song that cuts straight to the bone. Driven by razor-sharp lyricism and gritty, stripped-back production, the track captures the everyday fear women live with, from walking home with keys clenched between fingers to navigating a system that routinely fails survivors. As girli puts it, the song is about “perpetrators getting away with a slap on the wrist while survivors are left to carry the blame and the fear.” It’s a battle cry for anyone who’s ever felt unprotected in a world that should do better. The accompanying video, created in collaboration with U.K. platform Cheer Up Luv, deepens the impact. Based on real stories and real locations where harassment has occurred, each vignette is grounded in lived experience, culminating in stark statistics that underline the urgency of change. Featuring a diverse cast of women and trans actors, the visual reinforces the universality of these experiences across identities. Arriving at the dawn of a bold new era, following recent single “Better Undressed,” “Slap on The Wrist” sees girli trading gloss for grit. Known for boundary-pushing alt-pop and outspoken activism since her breakthrough album Matriarchy, she now sharpens her focus, turning real-life injustice into something impossible to ignore. Enjoy the visual for “Slap On The Wrist” HERE, and contact Mortiz Friedenberg for additional information on behalf of girli.

CHARLIE PUTH JOINS AI MUSIC CREATION PLATFORM MOISES AS CHIEF MUSIC OFFICER: Charlie Puth has been named Chief Music Officer of AI-powered music platform Moises, the startup known for bringing Whitney Houston‘s vocals back to the stage in a live concert experience last year. Backed by $52 million (USD) in venture funding, Moises operates globally across the U.S., Brazil, and Europe, serving more than 70 million users in 33 languages. Unlike prompt-based AI song generators, the company emphasizes that it does not create full tracks. Instead, it develops licensed, professional-grade tools that enable musicians to isolate vocals and instruments, detect chords and song structure, and experiment with arrangements, enhancing, rather than replacing, the creative process. In his new role, Puth will help steer the platform’s creative and product vision, ensuring its tools reflect real-world artist workflows. To mark the partnership, Puth and Moises have launched a global remix competition tied to Super Bowl LX, following his recent national anthem performance. The Moises Jam Session invites fans to remix or cover his new single “Beat Yourself Up” from his forthcoming album Whatever’s Clever!, with access to exclusive stems via the app. Puth will personally choose the winning entries, with finalists competing for $100,000 in cash and prizes, signed merchandise, and a backstage meet-and-greet at his May 29th show at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

MC MENOK SIGNS WITH WARNER MUSIC: Warner Music Brazil has officially announced the signing of MC MenoK, one of the fastest-rising stars in Brazilian funk. The deal arrives at a milestone moment for the artist, who has just become the most-streamed male performer in Brazil on Spotify, surpassing 23 million monthly listeners and accumulating more than 600 million streams across his catalog on the platform. MenoK’s latest release, “Lembrei de Tu,” featuring Oruam and Fepache, surged into the Top 10 of the Spotify Brazil charts during its first week. The track follows the success of “Posso Até Não te Dar Flores,” which topped charts across Brazil and Portugal and climbed to No. 9 on the Spotify Global Chart, accumulating more than 200 million streams so far. Born Kauan Soares in Porto Alegre in southern Brazil, MC MenoK built his reputation through vivid storytelling about life in Brazil’s urban communities. His music merges southern funk influences with the iconic sound of Rio de Janeiro funk, creating a style that stands out in the genre. Early tracks like “Camisa do Grêmio” and “Camisa do Flamengo” helped establish his signature aesthetic, and he continues to hold a steady presence on Spotify’s Top 200 charts, demonstrating the lasting appeal of his music. Leila Oliveira, President of Warner Music Brazil, said, “The signing of MC MenoK marks an important moment for Warner Music. He is an artist with a strong identity, a highly authentic perspective, and a significant reach – qualities that make him one of the most relevant names in today’s scene. Urban music is a core pillar of our strategy, and its creative strength in Brazil is reflected in talents such as MenoK. We are excited to partner with him to further grow his career, strengthening the presence of funk in Brazil and around the world.”

WARNER MUSIC GROUP’S ROBERT KYNCL POSTS LETTER TO SHAREHOLDERS: Just months into 2026, the global music industry continues to show sustained growth and long-term momentum, according to an update from Warner Music Group (WMG)‘s Robert Kyncl. Kyncl pointed to record-breaking streaming figures and increasing revenue predictability as key indicators of the sector’s strength. Global on-demand audio streams reached 5.1 trillion in 2025, underscoring music’s continued expansion as a dominant media category. With subscriber growth ongoing and pricing power improving across digital service providers, the recorded music market is projected to reach $55 billion by 2035, supported by an estimated 1.5 billion paid subscribers worldwide. Against that backdrop, Kyncl outlined a three-pronged strategy for 2026 and beyond: growing market share, increasing the overall value of music, and improving operational efficiency. To grow its share, the company plans to expand its global repertoire, strengthen catalog performance, and pursue high-quality acquisitions. To elevate music’s value, WMG is focused on pricing evolution, artist-centric monetization models, superfan segmentation, and direct digital licensing initiatives. On efficiency, the company continues to leverage technology transformation, streamlined operations, and margin expansion efforts to drive stronger financial performance. Kyncl also emphasized artificial intelligence as both an accelerant and an opportunity. The company said it is actively developing ethical frameworks, protecting artists’ rights, and creating licensed monetization models that position AI as a complement to, not a replacement for, human creativity. In an increasingly saturated content environment, WMG believes trusted brands, authentic artistry, and iconic catalogs will become even more valuable. With structural growth elements in place and a sharpened strategic focus, Kyncl signaled confidence in his ability to help lead the next phase of the global music business while expanding value for artists, songwriters, partners, and shareholders.

PIPELINE ACQUIRES CATALOG VALUATION SERVICE CLARTY PARTNERS: Music finance platform Pipeline has acquired the core assets and intellectual property of Clarty Partners, strengthening its underwriting and analytics capabilities in the music IP space. Clarty, founded in 2023 by former senior BMG executives Stéphane Hubert and Pierre Suignard, developed proprietary valuation technology, royalty ingestion systems, and financial modeling tools used to assess music catalogs and support M&A advisory services. As part of the transaction, Hubert and Suignard will join Pipeline to lead its investment underwriting division focused on independent music, with Hubert also taking a seat on the company’s Investment Committee. Pipeline was founded by Jamen Capital, a global media and IP-focused investment firm. Over the past year, the company has built a leadership team spanning music, finance, and technology, with collective experience evaluating or operating more than $8 billion in music intellectual property.
