A&R Worldwide and MUSEXPOThe United Nations of Music,” (which takes place March 21st – 24th, 2027) are proud to announce that Madison Emiko Love, one of the most accomplished and globally influential songwriters of her generation, will be honored with the “Global Songwriter Award” at the A&R Worldwide International Music Industry Awards gala dinner, held following the conclusion of MUSEXPO 2027 on Wednesday, March 24th at Castaway in Burbank, California, the media and entertainment capital of the world.

Madison Emiko Love

Born in Los Angeles, California, Love is a multi-Platinum songwriter and graduate of the Clive Davis Institute at NYU Tisch whose extraordinary catalog has helped shape the sound of contemporary global pop. Her remarkable career began while she was still a student, when she co-wrote “Bad Things” by Machine Gun Kelly and Camila Cabello, her first pop radio hit.

Love quickly established herself as one of the most sought-after songwriters in the world, co-writing “Him & I” by G-Eazy and Halsey, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Pop Songs Airplay Chart in 2018. She followed with Ava Max’s “Sweet but Psycho,” a global phenomenon that reached No. 1 in 17 countries, including Germany and the United Kingdom, where it spent four consecutive weeks atop the U.K. Singles Chart.

Love’s songwriting has continued to cross genres, formats, and cultures. She penned “Choose Your Fighter” for the Grammy Award-winning soundtrack to the blockbuster film Barbie, further cementing her reputation as a writer capable of creating songs that resonate both commercially and culturally.

As a vocalist, Love has also made her mark alongside some of the biggest names in electronic, pop, hip-hop, and alternative music. Her featured credits include David Guetta and Alesso’s “Never Going Home Tonight,” which reached No. 1 on the dance radio charts, as well as collaborations with G-Eazy on “Mama Always Told Me,” Two Feet on “Hurt People,” Machine Gun Kelly on “Waste Love,” Black Coast on “No Filter,” Coyote Kisses on “Waiting For You,” and Axwell & Ingrosso on “I Love You.”

In recent years, Love has continued to deliver some of pop music’s most distinctive and globally resonant songs, including KATSEYE’s breakout single “Gnarly” and the massive collaboration “ICONIC BY MISTAKE” with ILLIT and LE SSERAFIM. Her songwriting credits also include five tracks on Kesha’s recent No. 1 Billboard Dance Album and seven songs on Kim PetrasDetour, demonstrating her extraordinary ability to create hooks and melodies that transcend genres and generations.

With credits spanning an extraordinary roster of global artists including Lady Gaga, BLACKPINK, Selena Gomez, Addison Rae, Hilary Duff, Gwen Stefani, Suki Waterhouse, Grimes, David Guetta, Måneskin, Charli XCX, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Zara Larsson, Madison Beer, Leah Kate, ENHYPEN, Normani, Dove Cameron, Ellie Goulding, Troye Sivan, Audrey Nuna, and many more, Love has established herself as a defining creative voice in modern pop music.

“Madison Emiko Love represents the very best of what the Global Songwriter Award celebrates – extraordinary creativity, a remarkable ear for melody and hooks, and a truly global impact on contemporary music,” said Sat Bisla, Founder & President of A&R Worldwide and MUSEXPO. “From her early success as a student to becoming one of the most in-demand songwriters working today, Madison’s ability to create songs that connect across cultures and generations is exceptional. Her work continues to help define where global pop music is headed.”

The A&R Worldwide “Global Songwriter Award” honors exceptional songwriters whose creative vision, songwriting excellence, and global influence transcend borders. Love joins an elite roster of previous honorees that includes Diane Warren (Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Taylor Swift, Cher, and more) a Grammy, Emmy, and Golden Globe Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated songwriter whose timeless catalog has defined pop and film music across four decades; Savan Kotecha, a Grammy-nominated hitmaker whose songs for Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, and One Direction have dominated charts worldwide; and Justin Tranter (Chappell Roan, Imagine Dragons, Sam Smith, and more) one of the most influential and socially conscious creative forces in contemporary music, whose songwriting and advocacy have made a lasting global impact.

The International Music Industry Awards, presented by A&R Worldwide following MUSEXPO, bring together leading artists, songwriters, producers, executives, music companies, media, and tastemakers from around the world to celebrate the individuals and organizations shaping the future of the global music industry. Megan Thee Stallion has entered a new distribution partnership with Interscope Records, bringing the global distribution of her upcoming music to a Universal Music Group label while allowing her to remain fully independent.

Through the agreement, Megan will continue to own her masters and publishing and will release music through her own company, Hot Girl Productions. Announced on August 14, the partnership provides worldwide distribution and strategic support for her forthcoming releases.

The deal follows Megan’s previous distribution agreement with Warner Music Group, announced in February 2024, which similarly allowed her to retain ownership of her masters, publishing, and creative control.

Megan has continued to establish herself as one of rap’s biggest artists, topping the Billboard Hot 100 three times with “Savage (Remix)” featuring Beyoncé and “WAP” with Cardi B in 2020, followed by her solo No. 1 “HISS” in 2024.

“From the moment Megan emerged, it was clear she was a singular artist with an unmistakable voice and an extraordinary ability to shape culture on her own terms,” said Steve Berman, Vice Chairman of Interscope Capitol. “She has consistently redefined what it means to be a global superstar – combining creative excellence, entrepreneurial vision, and an uncompromising authenticity. We are honored to welcome Megan to the Interscope family and excited to partner with Roc Nation as we support her next chapter.”

Since the release of Megan: Act II in October 2024, Megan has released two singles, “Whenever” and “Lover Girl.” While neither track has been confirmed for her upcoming album, Act III, the new Interscope partnership sets the stage for the next chapter of her independent career.

BMG ANNOUNCES WORLDWIDE PUBLISHING DEALS WITH PHIL BARTON AND ALISON NICHOLS

Award-winning songwriter Phil Barton has signed a global publishing deal with BMG in partnership with Liz Rose Music, adding a new chapter to a career that has seen more than 900 of his songs released worldwide. Barton first gained recognition with Lee Brice’s No. 1 hit “A Woman Like You,” which earned him MusicRow’s Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year Award and an NSAI “Ten Songs I Wish I’d Written” honor.

Pictured (L-R) are Gracie Glass (Liz Rose Music), Scott Ponce (Liz Rose Music), Liz Rose (Liz Rose Music), Phil Barton, Amy Hendon Scott (BMG), Kate Shirley (BMG), Chris Oglesby (BMG), and Dave Pacula (BMG)

Since then, he has built a catalog spanning country, pop, and children’s music, with songs recorded by artists including Sara Evans, Gabby Barrett, Dustin Lynch, Eli Young Band, Priscilla Block, Matt Stell, LOCASH, Alison Krauss, Ashley McBryde, and David Nail

His work has also featured in the Oscar-nominated film Sicario through the song “Cowboy’s Duty,” alongside multiple No. 1 and Top 10 hits across North America and Australia.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Phil to BMG,” says Amy Hendon Scott, Director, Creative, BMG Publishing. “I’ve believed in Phil since the beginning, so getting the opportunity to work together again makes this partnership especially meaningful. Phil is the kind of songwriter every publisher hopes to work with. His songs are honest, memorable, and beautifully crafted, but just as importantly, he is someone artists love writing with. He brings curiosity, consistency, and an incredible work ethic to every room, and we are proud to partner with Liz Rose Music as we help champion the next chapter of his remarkable career.”

Standing (L-R) are Chris Oglesby (VP, Head of Creative, BMG Publishing), Sherrie Austin (Go Long Entertainment Management), Amy Hendon Scott (Director, Creative, BMG Publishing), Alison Nichols, Jon Loba (President, Recorded Music, North & South America, BMG), Peter Strickland (General Manager, BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville) and JoJamie Hahr (EVP, Recorded Music, BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville)

In addition, Country artist Alison Nichols has signed a global publishing deal with BMG, extending her relationship with the company, which also represents her as a recording artist through BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. One of the emerging Asian American voices in country music, Nichols draws on her Korean heritage and Southern upbringing to create modern country music rooted in personal storytelling. Her growing catalog includes tracks such as “is it just me?,” “HOOPS,” “John Deere Green,” “Box Wine Problems,” “Dressin’ Down” and her latest release, “All Heaven Broke Loose.”

The new agreement sees BMG further invest in Nichols’ work as both a songwriter and recording artist. Co-written with Natalie Stovall and Zach Manno, “All Heaven Broke Loose” blends country and pop while turning a story of heartbreak into one of resilience and hope.

“We’re thrilled to continue building alongside Alison as she enters this next chapter of her career,” says Amy Scott, Director, Creative BMG Publishing. “As both an artist and songwriter, she brings a rare combination of authenticity, passion, and humor to everything she creates. Her ability to tell honest stories in a way that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable is what makes her such a special talent, and we are excited to help champion her songwriting for years to come.”

UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP AND APPLE CORPS UNVEIL LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BEATLES

Universal Music Group (UMG) and Apple Corps have entered a new exclusive, long-term global partnership covering The Beatles.

Under the agreement, UMG will oversee the group’s worldwide physical and digital merchandise, licensing, and e-commerce, expanding on its existing role in managing The Beatles’ catalog.

The partnership comes as Apple Corps continues to develop new Beatles projects and experiences. A major upcoming initiative is The Beatles at 3 Savile Row, an official fan experience set to open in London in 2027 at the former Apple Corps headquarters and site of the band’s famous rooftop performance. The seven-floor attraction will feature archival material, exhibitions, a fan store, and a recreation of the studio where Let It Be was recorded.

Sir Lucian Grainge, UMG Chairman & CEO, said, “The Beatles embody music’s power to change the world, and that influence makes them one of the most iconic and enduring cultural brands of all time. We are grateful for Apple Corps’ trust as we deepen our global partnership, while protecting and growing The Beatles’ legacy through authentic fan experiences worthy of their artistry. As a lifelong Beatles fan, building on the relationships forged over the past 14 years is one of the great highlights of my career.

The collaboration also follows plans for an expanded edition of Rubber Soul, due October 2, while 2028 will bring The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event, a series of four biopics directed by Sam Mendes covering the lives and music of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Each week, A&R Worldwide shares a snapshot of creatives and executives that we have collaborated or worked with in various music markets around the world, albeit in recent or previous times!

FROM AMY WINEHOUSE, FORTUNE DRIVE, STORY ONE, LA ROUX, LOLA YOUNG & BEYOND: Joining his longtime friend for a hot cup of tea and insightful conversation is Sat Bisla (Founder & President, A&R Worldwide) with legendary U.K. A&R executive and manager Nick Shymansky (Co-Founder, Day One Music).

A short while back, Sat Bisla, President & Founder, A&R Worldwide reconnected with his long-time friend Nick Shymansky, co-Founder, Day One Music, who manages burgeoning female artists Kenya Grace (Warner Records) and Lola Young (Island Records).

Prior to launching Day One Music with his business partner Nick Huggett (who discovered and signed Adele to her first-ever record deal with XL Recordings back in 2006, and introduced her to longtime manager Jonathan Dickins), Nick Shymanksy was also a talented A&R executive who was known for signing LaRouxJamie Woon, and the late and legendary Amy Winehouse to her first deal whilst he was 19 (Simon Fuller‘s company), and went on to be her worldwide manager for the bulk of Amy’s successful worldwide career.

Nick was also the first A&R executive in the world that was introduced to the Los Angeles-based LMFAO by A&R Worldwide’s Sat Bisla who was advising and shopping the band before they had any management, recording, or publishing deal. Nick was the first A&R guy in the world to offer LMFAO a global label deal whilst he was an A&R man at Polydor Records – the deal was negotiated at the A&R Worldwide office with Red Foo and Sky Blu; however, the band decided to pursue another offer a few months later with Island Records, U.K. However, thanks to the help of Nick Shymansky and Sat Bisla, they were introduced to Briony Turner (now co-President, Atlantic Records, U.K.) who gave LMFAO their first-ever publishing deal whilst she was at Global Publishing in the U.K.

A&R Worldwide also played a key role in helping support Nick Shymansky’s artists Story One, Fortune Drive, and La Roux with garnering key access and media support into the U.S. and other international markets for the artists.

UMG STRIKES PARTNERSHIP WITH SOCIAL MUSIC PLATFORM HOOK: Universal Music Group (UMG) has signed a licensing partnership with AI-powered social music platform Hook, creating a new model for fans to remix and share music using officially licensed recordings. Hook allows users to transform songs across different genres and moods, creating and sharing their own versions on social platforms. Under the new agreement, UMG artists and rights holders can decide which songs are available, what creative tools fans can access, and where resulting content can be shared. Every creation is licensed, attributed, and tracked, allowing rights holders to monetize fan activity both on Hook and across social platforms. The deal follows more than two years of collaboration between Hook and UMG’s global label network, including Republic Records, Capitol Records, Mavin and Virgin Music Group, with more than 30 artist campaigns already developed. Hook raised $10 million (USD) in Series A funding earlier this year, bringing its total funding to $16 million.
