2025 GRAMMY RECAP

At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA the music industry gathered to honor outstanding achievements across diverse genres. The evening was marked by memorable performances and heartfelt speeches, reflecting the dynamic landscape of contemporary music.

Among the night’s notable winners was The Beatles, whose posthumously released track “Now and Then” secured the prestigious “Record of the Year” award. This achievement underscored the enduring impact of their music legacy, even decades after their initial prominence. The “Song of the Year” award was bestowed upon Beyoncé for her evocative track “Texas Hold ‘Em,” further cementing her status as a versatile and influential artist, and continuing her reign as the most awarded artist in Grammy history. However, the highlight for Beyoncé’s was her win for “Album of the Year,” as well as awards for “Best Country Album” for Cowboy Carter, and “Best Country Duo/Group Performance” for “II MOST WANTED” featuring Miley Cyrus, that made this a Grammy awards night that she will long remember.

One of the most accomplished new artists in the past year, Chappell Roan, was honored with the “Best New Artist” award. In her acceptance speech, Roan passionately advocated for fair compensation and healthcare for emerging musicians, emphasizing the need for systemic support within the industry. In the pop category, Sabrina Carpenter clinched the “Best Pop Solo Performance” for her dynamic rendition of “Espresso” and took home the “Best Pop Vocal Album” for Short n’ Sweet, solidifying her status as a rising pop sensation. The rap genre witnessed a historic moment as Doechii won the “Best Rap Album” for her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, becoming only the third solo female rapper to receive this honor. In her heartfelt speech, she dedicated the award to Black girls and women, encouraging them to embrace their identities and potential. Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar took home “Record of the Year” for his release “Not Like Us.”

The ceremony also featured a poignant tribute to Los Angeles, honoring the city’s resilience in the face of recent wildfires. Performances by artists such as Billie Eilish paid homage to the community’s strength and unity during challenging times. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars also performed a duet on the Los Angeles-centric classic “California Dreamin’,” part mournful, part celebratory, and all in a memorable performance.

As the night concluded, the 67th Annual Grammy Awards celebrated both the enduring legacies of iconic musicians and the promising futures of emerging talents, reflecting the rich tapestry of the current musical landscape.

A&R Worldwide Artist Of The Week

THE AMAZONS

The Amazons kick off 2025 with their electrifying new single, “My Blood,” a powerful collaboration with award-winning British alt-rock act Royal Blood that showcases their stadium-ready rock energy. Produced by Mike Kerr and featuring Ben Thatcher on drums, the track is a triumphant anthem exploring resilience and the inner drive to push through adversity. Lead singer Matt Thomson describes it as a raw expression of the force that compels us to persevere, even when rational thinking says to quit. “My Blood” is the latest release from their upcoming fourth album, 21st Century Fiction due out May 9th via Nettwerk. The single is already garnering global streaming traction, and radio airplay on over 50 radio stations across six continents courtesy of the influential syndicated program, Passport Approved. The album is deeply introspective and tackles themes of masculinity, unfulfilled promises, and chaos in a turbulent world. Enjoy “My Blood” HERE, and contact Liv Carson at liv@they-do.com for additional information, and available opportunities worldwide with The Amazons.

CIRCA WAVES

Liverpool’s indie rockers Circa Waves are back with the electrifying new single “Like You Did Before,” a standout from their upcoming album Death & Love Pt. 1, which was released on January 31, via Lower Third/[PIAS]. The track radiates 2000s New York cool, blending infectious Strokes-inspired grooves with a high-energy indie-dance vibe guaranteed to light up dance floors. Frontman Kieran Shudall shares the song’s deeply personal origins: it’s inspired by a moment before his life-changing heart surgery, where he imagined escaping to a sweaty, packed indie club and dancing like everything depended on it. This daydream of hope and freedom pulses through the track’s energetic beats and cathartic guitar riffs. With Death & Love Pt. 1, Circa Waves channel the fragility and euphoria of Shudall’s near-death experience into nine nostalgic and anthemic tracks, self-produced by Shudall and engineered by Matt Wiggins (Adele, Lana Del Rey). As the band prepares for their biggest U.K. headline tour in February and March 2025, including a special hometown show in Liverpool, “Like You Did Before sets the tone for an era-defining album full of resilience and raw emotion. Experience the video for “Like You Did Before” HERE, and contact ashley@mbcpr.com for all inquiries pertaining to Circa Waves.
