WARNER MUSIC GROUP COMPLETES ACQUISITION
OF INDIE AFRICAN DISTRIBUTOR AFRICORI
Warner Music Group (WMG) has officially completed its acquisition of Africori, the independent African music distributor representing over 7,000 artists.

Africori will continue to function as a separate entity under the leadership of CEO Yoel Kenan, who will report directly to Temi Adeniji, Managing Director, Warner Music Africa. To enhance global reach, Warner Music and Africori have integrated their systems, allowing Africori’s artists and tracks to be seamlessly incorporated into Warner’s global network. Founded in 2009, Africori has established itself in the African music industry, holding a catalog that includes artists like Kelvin Momo, Master KG, Nkosazana Daughter, Oscar Mbo, and TitoM & Yuppe.
WMG initially invested in Africori in 2020, gaining access to its catalog and A&R capabilities while also marking its first real entry into key African markets. In 2022, WMG acquired a majority stake in Africori, which paved the way for this full acquisition. One of the partnership’s earliest successes came in 2020 with the breakout of Master KG’s “Jerusalema.” The track amassed billions of views and hundreds of millions of streams. Since then, Africori has continued to build on its success, with milestones such as TitoM & Yuppe’s “Tshwala Bam” reaching five-time Platinum status in South Africa and Wanitwa Mos and Nkosazana Daughter’s debut album Makhelwane hitting 100 million pre-release streams.
Yoel Kenan, CEO, Africori, said, “We’ve had an incredibly successful few years partnering with Temi Adenijii and Warner Music. From the beginning, our shared vision of connecting African music with fans from across the world was evident. The Africori team looks forward to working with the entire Warner Music family as we discover, develop, and upstream the next generation of talent from across the continent.”
Temi Adeniji, Managing Director of Warner Music Africa, added, “This is a landmark moment in our evolution in Africa. Over the past four years, we’ve shown that proper investment, synergies, and cooperation have created value for artists, but also that Warner Music has helped energize and nurture the enterprising spirit of a local partner. We’ve up-streamed Africori artists and plugged them into our global network, delivering international remixes and trend-driven cross-collaborations that have helped elevate their careers.”
Africori’s artists have dominated South African airwaves, holding the No.1 position on the Radiomonitor charts for eleven straight weeks with hits like “Sdakiwe Sbali,” “Ndsize,” and “Vuka.” Africori’s influence extends to the BMAT Top 10, where its tracks represent 50% of the rankings, and its music recently swept the top six spots on the Apple Music South Africa charts.

An array of emerging talent from around the world is once again set to arrive at MUSEXPO for showcase sets from March 16th – 19th. The first two nights of unearthed global talent will perform at the legendary S.I.R. Studios on Sunset Blvd., followed by an additional night in the “Sync & Media Capital of The World” – Burbank, CA. Most of the talent is available for signing, licensing, booking, publishing, sync/brand partnerships, and/or legal representation.
The MUSEXPO artist showcases on Monday, March 17th will feature an array of U.S., and global talent including the alternative, pop, and awe-inspiring sync-friendly sounds of Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Baker Grace who was signed to Sire Records and The Orchard Co-Founder Richard Gottehrer’s Instant Records after he discovered her at the MUSEXPO “Play Us Your Hits” panel. Baker Grace has garnered millions of streams and views globally for her impactful and authentic soundscapes. She’s currently sourcing a publisher and booking agent to continue elevating her global growth.
Ireland’s Dave Lofts marks his North American exclusive debut at MUSEXPO. Hailed as a cross between a male version of Adele meets Lewis Capaldi, his showcase (ironically falling on St. Patrick’s Day) is poised to create a global bidding war between record labels, music publishers, and booking agents. Dave Lofts became the first Irish act to have a debut Dublin headline show sold out in Whelan‘s in December. He sold out Waterford’s Bank Lane and a five-sold-out summer residency in the legendary ‘Phil Grimes,’ the live recordings were subsequently released as a live album that reached No.1 on the Irish Independent album charts.
One of Ireland’s most distinctive and impactful multi-falsetto vocalists Shobsy has been described as the next-generation Sam Smith meets Jimmy Sommerville (Bronski Beat, Communards) and is already making a strong impact across Ireland with his jaw-dropping live performances on stage, on TV, and at the residence of the President of Ireland. Shobsy was signed to a global publishing deal after last year’s MUSEXPO performance. However, record labels, music supervisors, and booking agents are keen to sign and work with Shobsy; hence his return to the event which continues to deliver remarkable success for Irish talent.
Hailing from Nice, France, The Sons of Guns are one of the country’s most promising new global exports. Rooted in blues, folk, Americana, and seventies rock, they are known for rich vocal harmonies reminiscent of Crosby, Stills & Nash, and the Eagles. Emphasizing pure, instinctive performances, they offer a vintage yet fresh musical perspective with a radio, streaming, and synch-friendly sound, as well as their riveting live performance capability.
East Coast, U.S. native Rhett Repko is a determined and driven singer/songwriter who has garnered an impressive amount of traction independently with radio, playlists, and sync. In fact, he has had his songs licensed by networks like Vice, MTV, Netflix, Discovery, NASCAR, E!TV, Oxygen, A&E, TLC, Fox Sports, OWN, and USA – all very impressive for a completely unsigned, unpublished independent artist. Rhett’s recent work has been mixed by Grammy-nominated, and RIAA Diamond-certified record producer and mixer Mark Needham (Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Neon Trees).
New Zealand-based alt-pop songstress PRINS is fast becoming one of Australasia’s most exciting new artists. Her latest single charted at No.1 on the New Zealand Hot Singles Chart, and she’s just getting started. Evoking the musical aesthetics of Tove Love, Lorde, Caity Baiser, and other influential global alt-pop artists, PRINS is poised to become one of New Zealand’s biggest exports in recent years. PRINS has already captured the attention of numerous U.S. and global record labels, music publishers, and booking agents; however, her management has decided to hold off on any deals until after her debut MUSEXPO performance next month.
Evocative and inspiring Oslo, Norway-based artist MaVe is fast becoming one of Scandinavia’s most exciting and talked-about new talents. Influenced by creators such as Labrinth, Sia, and James Blake, MaVe has also been compared to early Lorde and Norwegian acts Highasakite and Emilie Nicholas. MaVe’s music has garnered placements across many streaming platforms such as NMF Norway, NMF Den-mark, New Music Discovery by THE LINE OF BEST FIT, Norwegian TIDAL‘S “Tracks of the Week” and Apple‘s New Music Daily (Norway and Sweden) and Future Hits, and she’s just getting started!

SAMFIRE
Samfire, the Suffolk, England-based alternative pop artist Phoebe Mallinson, unveils “Muse,” out via AWAL, blending the theatrical flair of Kate Bush, the urgency of The Last Dinner Party, and the pop instincts of Charli XCX. The single is a bold, melodramatic anthem that dives into the contrast between emotional turmoil and the solace found in love. Taken from her upcoming third EP The Edge of Everything, “Muse” pairs raw, vulnerable lyrics with ethereal alt-pop hooks, making it an irresistibly catchy, artful earworm. Following praise from BBC Introducing as “One to Watch” and a standout live set at Latitude Festival, Samfire is poised for a breakout moment. Released on Valentine’s Day, “Muse” fully embraces its romantic essence, as Mallinson describes it as “melodramatic and mushy,” a song that captures unfiltered emotion with confidence and honesty. Produced by Gethin Pearson and recorded at The Institute of Sonic Architecture in West Wales, “Muse” cements Samfire’s place as one of the most compelling voices in alternative pop today. Listen to “Muse” HERE and contact Darren Broome at darren@thelostagency.co.uk for all inquiries relating to Samfire.
