WARNER MUSIC GROUP ANNOUNCES DEALS WITH STABILITY AI,
UDIO AI, AND REVEALS FISCAL FOURTH QUARTER RESULTS

Warner Music Group (WMG) has formed a new partnership with Stability AI in a move the companies say will help “advance the use of responsible AI in music creation.” Announced on November 19th, the collaboration brings together WMG’s long-standing commitment to ethical, forward-thinking innovation with Stability AI’s expertise in commercially safe generative audio. The initiative will center on building professional-grade tools that allow artists, songwriters, and producers to explore, compose, and create using ethically trained AI models.

Robert Kyncl

According to WMG, the partnership aims to “unlock new forms of creative expression while safeguarding creators’ rights and generating fresh revenue opportunities.” Both companies will collaborate closely with artists to understand how they use emerging technologies, guiding the development of next-generation tools that enhance creativity without sacrificing quality or artistic control. This marks the second major-label partnership for Stability AI in the past two months.

In addition, WMG and Udio have struck a major agreement that settles their copyright infringement dispute and outlines a structured path for Udio’s fully licensed AI-powered music creation platform, scheduled to debut in 2026. Under the partnership, Udio will build a new music creation, listening, and discovery ecosystem using generative AI models trained only on authorized, licensed material.

Covering both WMG’s recorded music and publishing divisions, the deal introduces fresh revenue opportunities for artists and songwriters while protecting their work. Udio’s revamped subscription platform will offer tools for creating remixes, covers, and entirely new songs using the voices and compositions of participating creators, ensuring they receive proper credit and compensation. Prior to launch, Udio will also implement strengthened safeguards and expanded protections for rights holders. The agreement marks a major shift in Udio’s strategy, moving the company toward a model developed together with artists and songwriters. During the transition, Udio will maintain access to its existing closed system before fully migrating to the licensed platform in 2026.

WMG also closed its fiscal year with a powerful fourth-quarter surge, reporting a 15% revenue jump (13% in constant currency) driven by double-digit gains across Recorded Music and Music Publishing. Digital revenue climbed 8%, with subscription streaming up nearly 10% despite adjustments from a terminated distribution agreement. Net income more than doubled year-over-year to $109 million (USD), while adjusted OIBDA rose 15% to $405 million, underscoring the strength of WMG’s global release slate and continued streaming momentum. Publishing delivered one of the quarter’s standout performances, posting a 14% revenue rise fueled by growth in performance, sync, and mechanical income.

For the full year, Warner posted more modest results, where revenue increased 4.4% and adjusted OIBDA rose less than 1%, while net income declined to $370 million, reflecting one-time charges and restructuring costs. Robert Kyncl, CEO, WMG said that the company’s roster “has never been hotter,” highlighting expanding opportunities in AI licensing and new digital markets. Armin Zerza, CFO, WMG highlighted that cost-reduction initiatives are on track to deliver meaningful margin expansion in 2026. Despite a year-end increase in net debt to $3.8 billion, Warner’s strong Q4 finish, combined with its strategic focus on technology partnerships, artist services, and international growth, positions the company for a more aggressive fiscal 2026.

RED BULL RECORDS RUNS OUT OF ENERGY – LABEL TO CLOSE ITS DOORS

A&R Worldwide has learned that Red Bull Records will be closing its doors by the end of the year, ceasing 18 years of operation, according to multiple sources. Launched as one of the early examples of a music-driven brand extension, the label built a reputation for supporting a diverse roster of artists, including AWOLNATION, Beartooth, Albert Hammond Jr., Blxst, The Aces, and Twin Atlantic.

Greg Hammer

From the start, Red Bull Records partnered with Sony Music for distribution, first through RED and later The Orchard. In recent years, the label continued to sign new talent, including rouri404, London singer-songwriter James Vickery, rock band House of Protection, and Canadian artist Chris LaRocca. Under the leadership of Managing Director, Greg Hammer, Red Bull Records made several strategic hires in A&R, creative, and marketing in mid-2023, representing roughly 20% of the label’s team.

The closure of the label follows the winding down of Red Bull’s other music initiatives. The Red Bull Music Academy, which ran for 21 years and produced festivals, club nights, and educational workshops, closed in 2019. Red Bull Radio, the company’s online station, also ceased operations that same year. In addition, both Red Bull Songs Publishing and Red Bull Soundselect will also be shuttering their doors.

Back in May of this year, A&R Worldwide had revealed that Kenny “Tick” Salcido, Sr. VP/ Head of A&R at Red Bull Records, had left the company and launched a new venture called Renaissance Entertainment Company (REC), which officially began operations in June of this year. With over two decades of industry experience, Salcido has been involved in the careers of artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Terrace Martin, Blxst, Beartooth, The Aces, and more recently with acts like House of Protection, James Vickery, and Morgan.

A&R Worldwide had also been an A&R advisor to Red Bull Records and assisted with the signing of a number of artists including New Beat Fund (they were formerly known as Capra when they were signed to Disney Music Group), as well as tipping Red Bull Records off to many other artists who went on to have global success with other companies. In addition, A&R Worldwide had partnered with Red Bull Records back in March of this year for the first of its kind Global Sync Camp with writers and producers from around the world.

The decision to shutter the label reflects a broader refocusing of Red Bull’s involvement in music. While the company will no longer operate Red Bull Records, its impact on artist development and the early model of a brand-driven label will remain a part of its legacy.

DYNAMITE SONGS COMPLETES THREE CATALOG ACQUISITIONS COVERING NEARLY 150 TRACKS

Dynamite Songs has finalized three catalog acquisitions totaling nearly 150 tracks from singer-songwriter Eric Turner, producer John McGee (known as $K), writer-producer Mark Tieku (TIEKS), and writer-artist Dan Harkna.

These deals add rights and royalty streams for notable songs such as Tinie Tempah‘s “Written in the Stars,” Avicii‘s “Broken Arrows,” and Trey Songz‘s “Neighbors Know My Name” to Dynamite’s growing roster. Led by CEO Alan Wallis, the company focuses on acquiring compact catalogs that include “culturally significant” works.

Eric Turner

Eric Turner, the American singer-songwriter who co-wrote and performed on “Written in the Stars,” saw the track reach No.1 in the U.K. in 2010 and No.12 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning multi-platinum status in the U.S., U.K., Norway, Australia, and New Zealand. Turner also collaborated with Avicii on “Dancing in My Head” and “Broken Arrows,” and co-wrote for Lawson on “Learn to Love Again” and “Juliet.” Dynamite has acquired Turner’s publishing and songwriting rights, along with associated worldwide royalties, for these and other selected titles.

John McGee, professionally known as $K, co-wrote and co-produced “Neighbors Know My Name” from Trey Songz’s Grammy-nominated album Ready. The album reached No.4 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart and earned gold certification in the United States. His body of work also includes additional Trey Songz cuts and singles for Jacquees. Dynamite’s acquisition covers McGee’s publishing and songwriting rights, as well as global publishing and performance royalties.

The third acquisition centers on “Sunshine,” created by producer Mark Tieku (TIEKS) and vocalist Dan Harkna. The dance track surged in popularity after its placement in a Fiat 500 advertising campaign, topping Shazam‘s TV Ad Chart and landing in the U.K. Top 40 Dance Chart. BBC Radio 1 further boosted its momentum by adding it to the A-list, spinning it 12 times over a single weekend.

PRIMARY WAVE MUSIC PARTNERS WITH DAVE BRUBECK FAMILY

Primary Wave Music has announced a partnership with the Derry Music Company, encompassing the catalog, publishing rights, and recordings of Dave Brubeck.

Dave Brubeck

As part of this collaboration, Primary Wave will also participate in licensing Brubeck’s name, image, and likeness, and will extend the full support of its marketing and publishing teams. Together, they will develop branding initiatives, digital strategies, sync opportunities, and film and television projects that honor and elevate Brubeck’s legacy.

Celebrated by the Library of Congress as a “living legend,” Brubeck crafted and recorded some of the most enduring works in jazz across a career spanning more than six decades. His compositions include classics such as “In Your Own Sweet Way,” “It’s a Raggy Waltz,” the Grammy-nominated “Unsquare Dance,” “Autumn,” and “Blue Rondo à la Turk,” as well as the Paul Desmond–penned “Take Five,” which became a cultural phenomenon. First released in 1959 by the Dave Brubeck Quartet as part of the Time Out album campaign, “Take Five” gained massive traction by 1961 and became the best-selling jazz single in history. Its success helped Time Out become the first jazz LP to reach one million sales. Hailed as a “masterpiece” by The New York Times, the album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, has sold over two million copies, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2009. Today, “Take Five” is widely regarded as the most recognizable jazz tune in the world. Brubeck continued composing and performing until his passing in 2012 at age 92.

Though he often avoided the limelight, the accolades inevitably found him. His honors include the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors, the National Medal of Arts, the BBC Jazz Lifetime Achievement Award, the Library of Congress Living Legend Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, induction into the DownBeat Hall of Fame, and wins in the DownBeat Readers Poll for Best Group in both 1964 and, remarkably, 2010. Over his lifetime, he received eight Grammy nominations and, in 1954, became only the second jazz musician ever to appear on the cover of Time magazine.

His recordings have appeared across film and television shows such as Baby Driver, Wedding Crashers, Silver Linings Playbook, Sing, The Simpsons, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, and The Studio. Brubeck was also prominently featured in Ken Burns‘ acclaimed series Jazz. Additional films celebrating his life and work include Hedrick Smith‘s Rediscovering Dave Brubeck and Clint Eastwood‘s

A&R Worldwide Artist Of The Week

VELLA

Rising pop-soul artist Vella makes a powerful statement with her new single “Somebody Else,” lifted from her Sonet/Universal Music Sweden debut album All My Love. With her smoky, soulful voice and confessional lyricism, Vella delivers an anthem of self-worth and heartbreak. “Somebody Else” captures the moment of realization when love turns one-sided, when you’ve done everything to make it work, only to be asked to play second best. “It’s about putting your foot down when someone wants you to be their piece on the side,” shares Vella. “You try to mend the relationship because you care, but at some point, you realize they don’t feel the same.” Recorded between Los Angeles and Sweden, the single embodies the album’s balance of raw emotion and glossy pop craft. Produced by an elite creative team including Achraf “AJ Junior” Janussi (RedOne, Jennifer Lopez), Mattias Bylund (The Weeknd, Taylor Swift), and vocal coach Eric Vetro (Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes), “Somebody Else” showcases Vella’s stunning vocal range, from gritty power to ethereal falsetto, while reaffirming her as one of 2025’s breakout voices. Rooted in resilience and honesty, All My Love reflects Vella’s evolution from viral TikTok sensation to global artist, blending the emotional grit of soul with the melodic precision of Scandinavian pop. AUSTIN DABOH OBE EXITS ATLANTIC RECORDS U.K.: Austin Daboh OBE has officially stepped down from his role as Executive Vice President at Atlantic Records U.K., concluding more than five years at the label and marking the end of a notable chapter in his career. Daboh shared on his social media “the time feels right to move into new ventures, carrying the relationships, lessons, and success my teams delivered,” reflecting on his tenure overseeing a roster of emerging and established talent. His departure coincides with a strategic restructuring at Warner Music U.K., which recently aligned Atlantic U.K. more closely with its U.S. counterpart, aiming to strengthen global artist growth through a transatlantic partnership. Daboh, a respected figure in Black music and youth culture, joined Atlantic in June 2020 after senior editorial roles at Apple Music and Spotify, bringing a unique perspective that influenced the label’s creative direction and artist development strategies. During his time at Atlantic U.K., he was known for leveraging his deep connections in radio, streaming, and culture to champion artists and shape the label’s identity in a rapidly evolving market. As Warner Music U.K. continues to navigate leadership changes, Daboh’s exit sparks speculation about the next generation of U.K.-based talent strategies, while his stated enthusiasm for new ventures suggests he may soon embark on entrepreneurial or creative initiatives that could have an equally significant impact on the music industry.

UTA SIGNS FKA TWIGS TO GLOBAL DEAL: United Talent Agency (UTA) has signed FKA Twigs for comprehensive, worldwide representation across all areas of her career. The U.K. artist has just unveiled Eusexua Afterglow, the follow-up to Eusexua, which reached No.3 on the U.K. charts earlier this year. Her latest album earned her a Grammy nomination for “Best Dance/Electronic Album,” adding to Eusexua‘s Mercury Prize nomination. Also, FKA Twigs is set to perform at Coachella in April 2026. Earlier this year, she made her solo dance debut with the Martha Graham Company during its 98th season gala in New York City. She also appeared opposite Bill Skarsgård in Rupert Sanders‘ adaptation of The Crow and will soon star alongside Nicolas Cage in the upcoming horror film The Carpenter’s Son. Twigs is also an ambassador for Sistah Space, a U.K. charity supporting Black survivors of domestic violence, and has played a key role in helping establish the organization’s first safe house for women of Black heritage.

TRANSGRESSIVE RECORDS APPOINTS ALEX CLARK AS SYNC & LICENSING MANAGER: Transgressive Records has named Alex Clark as its new sync and licensing manager, effective immediately. Celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, Transgressive continues to build on its legacy with a roster that includes acclaimed artists such as Arlo Parks, Foals, and Sophie, alongside recent signings like The New Eves, PAN, and Miso Extra. In a joint statement, the company’s Directors Toby L, Tim Dellow, and Lilas Bourboulon commented, “We are over the moon to have Alex join Transgressive. Sync has often driven so many creative, strategic, and commercial successes on behalf of our roster. Alex’s methodical and considered approach to sync as well as his enthusiasm for the roster, not to mention a wide and diverse ranging contact base, made him a dream candidate. We were honored by the caliber of submissions we received for the position, but Alex was the right fit, coming to the table with an extraordinary vision and plan for the role.”

SLIPKNOT SELL MAJORITY STAKE IN CATALOG TO HARBOURVIEW EQUITY PARTNERS: HarbourView Equity Partners has reached an agreement with global metal icons Slipknot to acquire a majority ownership stake in the band’s catalog. The acquisition covers some of Slipknot’s most celebrated tracks, including “Wait and Bleed,” “Duality,” “Psychosocial,” and the Grammy-winning “Before I Forget.” While financial terms were not disclosed, Billboard reported in August that the deal was nearing completion at an estimated value of around $120 million (USD). HarbourView noted that Slipknot, formed in 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa, quickly became one of modern metal’s most influential acts, beginning with their debut album. Their sophomore release, Iowa (2001), debuted at No.3 on the Billboard 200 and was followed by multiple chart-topping albums both in the U.S. and internationally. HarbourView calls Slipknot “a defining force in the global rock community,” highlighting their consistent festival headlining slots and sold-out arena tours worldwide. To date, the band has surpassed seven billion YouTube views and sold more than 30 million albums globally. The transaction was negotiated by Slipknot’s attorneys at Scott Legal Group, with HarbourView represented by Fox Rothschild.

COUNTRY HITMAKER PARKER MCCOLLUM RENEWS GLOBAL PUBLISHING DEAL WITH WARNER CHAPPELL MUSIC: Warner Chappell Music (WCM) Nashville has renewed its global publishing deal with country superstar and prolific hitmaker Parker McCollum, reinforcing one of the genre’s most successful creative partnerships. McCollum — whose RIAA Platinum-certified hits “Pretty Heart” and “Burn It Down” have cemented him as a crossover force, continues to expand his artistic footprint with the release of his self-titled 2025 album. Under this arrangement, The Other Songs will oversee both the legacy repertoire and forthcoming releases, working in collaboration with The Orchard, which will handle global distribution for Lloyd Webber’s catalog. Founded by Lloyd Webber’s sons, Alastair and Billy Webber, The Other Songs has already partnered with LW Entertainment (formerly The Really Useful Group) on several recent projects, including the U.K. No.1 Sunset Blvd. cast album. The label also recently released the new Evita cast recording, which achieved one million streams within its first 24 hours. In late October, Lloyd Webber’s catalog reached its highest single-day streaming numbers to date, driven by viral Phantom of the Opera moments on TikTok. More than 200,000 fan-created posts during Halloween week generated hundreds of millions of impressions across social platforms. The Other Songs operates across recordings, publishing, and artist management. Andrew Lloyd Webber said, “I am extremely excited that The Other Songs will be partnering with me to represent my past and future recording work. After the success of their albums by Starlight Express, Sunset Blvd, and Evita, I am thrilled that we will now have an exclusive long-term relationship. The Other Songs’ mission to doggedly champion songwriters, at a time when they have and are being treated as second-class citizens in the music industry, has hugely resonated with me. I am really looking forward to working with the new artists the collaboration will bring me at a time when I am writing as much if not more than I ever have.”

MUSIXMATCH LAUNCHES MUSIC LENS: Musixmatch, the lyrics and music data specialist, has introduced a new AI-driven music intelligence tool designed to turn catalog data into strategic insights, giving labels, publishers, and artists the information they need to make smarter creative and commercial decisions. This new AI agent, called Music Lens, is set for release in the first quarter of 2026, with early access available to select Musixmatch Pro partners. At launch, Music Lens will offer four key functions: aligning catalogues with any creative brief to unlock fresh sync opportunities, translating global music trends into clear, actionable takeaways, producing release-ready visual assets within seconds, and providing transparent data on royalties, splits, and DSP performance for creators, publishers, and labels. Musixmatch emphasizes that Music Lens has been built on strict ethical foundations. All data used is permission-based and securely stored within the company’s ecosystem. Importantly, the tool is powered not by broad training datasets, as is typical of many AI systems, but by “derived data,” meaning new insights generated through the processing and combination of existing information. In this case, the underlying material comes from a catalog of more than 100 million works supplied through partnerships with music publishers. Musixmatch describes this as “one of the largest ethically licensed datasets ever created” for music analytics.

EVEN STRIKES DEAL WITH SYMPHONIC: Direct-to-fan platform EVEN has partnered with Symphonic Distribution to bring “sell-before-streaming” storefronts to Symphonic’s creators. EVEN, described as an “infrastructure platform powering direct-to-fan music sales ahead of streaming releases,” can now be activated directly within a Symphonic account. Artists can use the integration to set pre-release D2F windows, choose formats and pricing, and launch their storefronts via EVEN. Through this integration, Symphonic creators can offer exclusive pre-release drops and bundles, receive daily payouts, create tailored fan experiences, and retain ownership of first-party fan data, all while remaining fully compatible with Symphonic’s distribution, administration, and artist services. The first live example is Symphonic artist Evil Ebenezer, who is offering early access to his new single “Young Pedro” on EVEN ahead of its DSP release. Earlier in a pilot program, Symphonic artist Ron Killings ran a pre-release campaign for The White Album via EVEN, generating revenue equivalent to 350,000 streams, driven by thousands of page views and a campaign-defined $2.32 (USD) “revenue per stream.” The partnership significantly expands EVEN’s international footprint, initially covering Symphonic’s key territories across the Americas and Europe, including the US, Latin America, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
