DIPLO SIGNS GLOBAL PUBLISHING DEAL
WITH WARNER CHAPPELL MUSIC

Warner Chappell Music (WCM) has announced a worldwide publishing deal with Diplo. A thirteen-time Grammy nominee and three-time winner, Diplo has spent the last two decades shaping the sound of modern music, building a catalog stacked with tracks like “Where Are Ü Now” with Skrillex and Justin Bieber, “Lean On” with DJ Snake and (as part of Major Lazer), Beyoncé‘s “Run the World (Girls),” M.I.A.‘s “Paper Planes,” and more recent hits like “Heartbroken” with Jessie Murph and Polo G.

Diplo

Diplo’s career took off from the underground scene of Philadelphia’s Hollertronix parties and catapulted into international stardom. Born in Mississippi and raised in Florida, he has become a global ambassador for genre fusion and musical exploration, elevating new voices through his labels, Mad Decent and Higher Ground. Whether as a solo artist, part of Major Lazer, one-half of Jack Ü (with Skrillex), LSD (alongside Sia and Labrinth), or Silk City (with Mark Ronson), Diplo has continually pushed sonic boundaries.

Diplo stated, “The Warner Chappell team is uniquely set up to address my many endeavors and projects whether it be producing for other artists, releasing my own music, or collaborating on records. They have an immensely skilled, forward-thinking staff that I feel can help complement how I approach making and placing music. In addition, I am excited to bring it full circle with Carianne Marshall who played such an integral role in my early success.”

David Goldsen, Sr. Vice President, North America A&R, WCM, said, “Diplo has already cemented himself as one of the most accomplished artists and music pioneers on the planet. His bold approach to art, culture, and songs is what we want to align with at Warner Chappell. There’s lots to continue to look forward to, and we’re thrilled to collaborate with him alongside his management team, Andrew McInnes and Renee Brodeur.”

Beyond his recent Higher Ground releases, Diplo’s latest projects include Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 – Swamp Savant, a continuation of his country alter ego, and 2022’s self-titled electronic album—his first in two decades.

BETTER NOISE MUSIC ANNOUNCES FOUR NEW KEY SIGNINGS

Better Noise Music has announced the signings of Sabaton, Yellowcard, In This Moment, and Finnish alternative dark-rock legends The Rasmus.

Dan Waite

Under the guidance of Chairman Allen Kovac, and leadership from CEO Dan Waite, COO & President Steve Kline, CFO Harris Masood, and GM Paul Cormack, the label has spent the last five years at the top of the Rock Airplay charts.

Sabaton, Sweden’s reigning power metal giants have landed at Better Noise Music, bringing with them four billion Spotify streams, Gold to Quadruple Platinum certifications, and a global fan base fueled by their storytelling. Their debut release with the label, the single “Templars,” arrives April 25.

The Rasmus, Finland’s No.1 rock export and one of the country’s most successful acts ever, joined the label through a joint venture with Playground Music. Their upcoming album Weirdo includes recent singles “Rest in Pieces” and “Creatures of the Night,” and the soon-to-drop “Break These Chains” featuring Niko Vilhelm of Blind Channel. With over 829 million global streams and a 2025 world tour underway, the band shows no signs of slowing down.

Yellowcard are officially signed and in the studio. Teaming up with Travis Barker for a brand-new album set for 2025, it’s their first full-length since 2016. In addition, Yellowcard has racked up over one billion streams, and three million albums sold.

In This Moment, the theatrical metal act led by frontwoman Maria Brink is stepping into a new era with Better Noise. The Grammy-nominated band is crafting their ninth studio album, due to begin rolling out in 2025. The band are known for their live shows and anthems like “Blood” and “Whore” and have six Gold and Platinum singles to their name.

Commenting on the new signings Dan Waite said, “Better Noise is deeply committed to utilizing the label’s knowledge and expertise to elevate each band to greater commercial heights. We are getting several inquiries from household name bands after 5 years as the No.1 rock radio label, from acts feeling overlooked in the major label system, or wanting to spread their success outside their home market and grow globally.”

He continued, “When artists follow our system, it doesn’t matter if you are Five Finger Death Punch, Mötley Crüe, Papa Roach, or Nothing More, Dirty Heads, Bad Wolves, The Funeral Portrait, or From Ashes to New, together we have the most success in their career to date. When artists follow our system, which is a unique system, and sometimes scary for artists, once they see the results they go all-in. The ones that tell us early on that they are not going to follow our system, we choose not to get in business with.”

WARNER MUSIC PARTNERS WITH ANJULA ACHARIA
ON JV LABEL 5 JUNCTION

Warner Music Group (WMG) is teaming up with entrepreneur Anjula Acharia to launch 5 Junction, a joint venture label with a mission to spotlight artists of South Asian descent based in the U.S. while elevating voices from across the South Asian diaspora.

Anjula Acharia

5 Junction will partner closely with the team at Warner Records in Los Angeles, led by Co-Tom Corson, Chairman & COO, and Aaron Bay-Schuck, Co-Chairman & CEO to build bridges between cultures and soundscapes.

Acharia, the powerhouse behind Desi Hits!, has played a key role in introducing artists like Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and 50 Cent to South Asian markets. Now, with 5 Junction, she’s bringing that global sensibility full circle—championing South Asian artists for audiences around the world.

The label will also work together with WMG’s India division, which has seen massive growth recently. Artists like Diljit Dosanjh—who headlined the largest Punjabi concert outside India in a sold-out Canadian stadium—and rising stars like King and Jasleen Royal are already making history on global charts. Both King and Royal are the first Indian artists to crack Spotify‘s Global Top 25 outside of Arijit Singh. In addition, 5 Junction will further expand its reach through a strategic alliance with 91 North Records, the Toronto-based venture from Warner Music India and Warner Music Canada.

Robert Kyncl, CEO of Warner Music Group, said, “WMG saw the global potential in South Asian music early, and we’re well-positioned to turbocharge our success in the bustling trade route between South Asia and North America. I’ve been lucky enough to know Anjula for years – she’s a creative and entrepreneurial dynamo who brings a vibrant network and immense expertise to our world-class team.”

Anjula Acharia, Founder of 5 Junction, added, “Bringing South Asian talent to Western audiences and beyond isn’t about trends – it’s about truth. Growing up between cultures, I always knew our stories had global power. My mission has been to translate that and show the world that representation isn’t a favor – it’s a force. Whether it’s music, identity, marketing, or scale, moving fluidly between the intersection of culture and commerce is where the magic happens.”

Jay Mehta, Managing Director, Warner Music India, concluded, “We’ve seen big cultural collaborations between King and Nick Jonas, Diljit and Sia, as well as Karan Aujla and One Republic, and for the first time ever we saw Diljit perform at Coachella and sell out arenas across North America. But we’re only at the starting line of what’s to come as we double down on South Asian music’s potential in the world’s largest music market.”

SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT PROMOTES KEVIN FOO
TO MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR SOUTHEAST ASIA

Sony Music Entertainment (SME) has named Kevin Foo as the new Managing Director for Southeast Asia, encompassing the evolving markets of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand. The appointment, effective immediately, places Foo at the forefront of SME’s vision for artist development and audience engagement in one of the world’s most dynamic music regions.

Kevin Foo

Operating out of Singapore, Foo will report directly to Shridhar Subramaniam, President of Asia and the Middle East for Sony Music Entertainment. In this role, he will guide a leadership team—including the General Managers of the three countries and the region’s VP of International Marketing, toward building stronger regional connectivity, supporting emerging and established talent, and unlocking new opportunities for growth.

With a career spanning multiple markets and disciplines, Foo brings to the table a mix of executive leadership, creative insight, and grassroots experience. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of RCA Records Greater China and General Manager of SME Taiwan, where he spearheaded forward-thinking initiatives and cultivated a culture of innovation and inclusivity. His time in Taiwan was marked by both artistic breakthroughs and social impact, notably during the pandemic when he led a cross-border music project supporting charity efforts led by Eric Chou. The collaboration brought together fifteen artists from across Asia, including names like Ben&Ben, Fatin, and Sezairi.

Shridhar Subramaniam stated, “Kevin has a unique ability to connect artists, markets, and audiences in ways that drive both commercial and cultural impact. His deep understanding of the region, coupled with his passion for artist development, makes him an ideal leader to shape the next phase of our Southeast Asia strategy.”

Prior to joining Sony Music, Foo made a mark as Founder of Foundation Music, managing a roster that included artists like Linying, Charlie Lim, and The Steve McQueens. He also co-founded Umami Records and built Beep Studios into one of Singapore’s premier recording facilities, creating a fertile ground for regional talent to thrive.

ULTRA INTERNATIONAL MUSIC PUBLISHING
UNVEILS NAME CHANGE

Ultra International Music Publishing officially announced its rebrand to Payday Music Publishing and has expanded global creative initiatives.

Patrick Moxey

The rebrand follows a recent legal ruling in a case filed by Sony Music, which contested the ownership of the “Ultra” brand after acquiring Ultra’s recording arm back in 2021. As a result, the publishing company will move forward under a new identity—but with the same global impact and reach.

Despite the change in name, Payday Publishing retains its catalog of over 70,000 copyrights, including shares in countless Billboard No.1 hits. Its roster includes co-writing and publishing credits with Post Malone, Ed Sheeran, Travis Scott, Drake, Katy Perry, Future, Kanye West, Kygo, Steve Aoki, and many more. The company celebrated a showing at the most recent Grammy Awards, with thirteen of its songwriters nominated across seven categories, including top honors like “Album of the Year” and “R&B Album of the Year.”

The Payday name draws inspiration from Payday Records, the influential hip-hop label founded by Patrick Moxey in 1992—known for early releases from Jay Z, Jeru The Damaja, and rising stars like Antslive. Staying true to that legacy, Payday Publishing continues to score streaming wins, with recent billion-stream entries like Tory Lanez‘s “The Color Violet,” Drake & Future’s “Wait for U” (feat. TEMS), and AURORA‘s viral hit “Runaway.”

Beyond chart success, Payday Publishing is shaping the future of songwriting with a lineup of international writing camps in 2025, following a breakout year of global collaboration. Recent camps include partnerships with Atlantic Records in Ibiza, Virgin Records in Germany, Warner Music in Paris, and a South Korean camp in Seoul hosted alongside Hybe, JYP, SM Entertainment, and others. That event brought together Payday writers like Neil Ormandy, Jenson Vaughn, Lizzy Land, and Kwon Close with leading Korean talents such as Slow Rabbit, 1Zone, Jinsol, Frants, and more.

April also saw the return of the company’s Coachella Writing Camp, now in its eighth year. Held in Santa Monica between festival weekends, the camp attracted artists performing at Coachella and other collaborators in town, offering a creative oasis for music-making coordinated with the energy of the event.

Coming up in May, the company will also relaunch its sync-focused writing camp in Palm Springs, with a dedicated emphasis on trailers and film/TV placements. Previous successes include placements in the We Live In Time trailer, Disney 100, Grey’s Anatomy, and campaigns for Netflix, Hulu, ABC, and more.

LOST HIGHWAY RECORDS TEAMS UP
WITH INTERSCOPE GEFFEN A&M

After more than a decade in hibernation, Lost Highway Records is relaunching with the full backing of Interscope Geffen A&M (IGA).

Jake Gear & Robert Knotts

At the center of this renaissance are Robert Knotts and Jake Gear, handpicked by Interscope’s John Janick to serve as Executive VP’s and Co-Heads of the new Lost Highway. Both bring deep Nashville credentials and a shared ethos of championing artists and their vision more than anything else, a philosophy that defined Lost Highway in its first life and now shapes its second.

Jake Gear brings a sharp ear for talent and a proven record from his time at UMG Nashville, where his A&R savvy helped launch acts like Tucker Wetmore and guided projects from Parker McCollum, Dierks Bentley, and Sam Hunt. With roots in Iowa and a foundation built on years in Nashville’s publishing trenches, Gear also co-founded Hang Your Hat Music, developing artists like Hailey Whitters and Flatland Cavalry.

Robert Knotts, meanwhile, arrives from a 12-year rise at Thirty Tigers. Starting as an intern, Knotts became Senior VP, Artist & Label Services, helping steer campaigns for acts like Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, and Lucinda Williams. His approach, which centered on storytelling, long-term strategy, and supporting artist autonomy, aligns with Lost Highway’s mission.

John Janick, Chairman & CEO, Interscope Capitol & IGA, said, “Lost Highway carved out a special place in the remarkable musical legacy of Nashville. It was a left-of-center label with one-of-a-kind artists who, at their core, were great songwriters and moved culture. Similarly, Interscope has always been a beacon to artists who don’t fit into a box yet are destined to inspire what comes next. With this new chapter in Lost Highway’s history, we are devoted to empowering the next generation of trailblazers, both artists and executives.”

Robert Knotts added, “Over the course of my career, my goal has always been to operate in service to the artist’s vision while understanding the emotional connection to their art. It is with this same spirit that Lost Highway left a lasting impact on the Nashville community – providing a home for artists who aren’t defined by genre and recognizing that the artist’s vision shapes culture itself. I am honored to carry that approach forward alongside one of my closest friends, Jake Gear. With John Janick’s guidance, and support from the entire Interscope team, we have an incredible opportunity to combine an artist-first mentality with Interscope’s remarkable ability to help build worlds around an artist’s vision.”

Founded in 2000 by Luke Lewis, Lost Highway earned a reputation as a haven for authentic voices, nurturing records from the likes of Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Ryan Bingham, and Kacey Musgraves. Though it was absorbed into Mercury Nashville in 2012, its influence lingered like a great song—waiting for the right time to play again.

Since joining Virgin, she’s assisted in campaigns for artists like Clairo, St Vincent, Amyl And The Sniffers, David Kushner, Tom Odell, and the Tove Lo x SG Lewis collaboration. ARMADA MUSIC PUBLISHING REVEALS SERIES OF NEW DEALS: Armada Music Publishing is bolstering its creative arsenal with a slate of new signings and a key partnership renewal. The company has officially inked new publishing deals with Bloom Twins, Shells, and Trance Wax, while also extending its collaboration with duo Da Beatfreakz. “Armada Music Publishing continues to strengthen its UK footprint, adding to a powerhouse roster that already includes names like D.O.D, Ki Fitzgerald, Tom Staar, Kryder, and Chicane,” the company noted in a statement. Among the new signees are the Bloom Twins—Anna and Sofia Kuprienko—a Ukrainian sister duo based in London. Known for their fusion of dance-pop and high fashion, the twins have made collaborations like “High on Beat” (with Jan Blomqvist), “DayDream” (with Benny Benassi), and “Opposite of Crazy” (with Purple Disco Machine). Their influence extends beyond music, with appearances in fashion campaigns and runway shows for brands including Gucci, Armani A/X, Swarovski, and Sephora. Also joining Armada’s publishing family is rising songwriter and performer Shells (Sarah Sheldrake). Fresh off the success of “Dancing Is Healing”—a Top 5 U.K. hit co-written with Charlotte Plank, Rudimental, and Vibe Chemistry—Shells’ recent nod for “Song of the Year” at the BRIT Awards cements her as a writer to watch. Her portfolio also includes work with Meduza and Sonny Fodera. On the electronic front, Belfast’s Trance Wax (aka Garry McCartney) joins the roster with his blend of nostalgic trance and modern club energy. Known for productions like “Black Lion,” and “Rhythm of The Night,” plus remixes for the likes of Tom Smith and Meduza, McCartney has also made an impact live, with performances at London’s Printworks and support slots for Above & Beyond. Rounding out the announcement is the renewed exclusive publishing deal with Da Beatfreakz (brothers Obi ‘O1’ and Uche ‘U1’ Ebele). Their track record includes co-writing the hit “Prada” by Cassö, Raye, and D-Block Europe, a billion-stream juggernaut now nominated for both a 2025 BRIT Award and an Ivor Novello.

UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP NASHVILLE REBRANDS AS MUSIC CORPORATION OF AMERICA: Universal Music Group Nashville has officially embraced a new identity, reemerging under the name Music Corporation of America (MCA). Announced on April 24, the company describes the new name as a symbol of “creativity, imagination, an honored legacy, and the future of music,” setting the tone for a fresh chapter in its storied history. This transformation follows a strategic overhaul two months ago when industry veteran Mike Harris was named CEO, leading the restructured Nashville division. He is joined by Dave Cobb, a nine-time Grammy-winning producer hailed for shaping the sonic landscape of Music City, who now serves as Chief Creative Officer. The revitalized company is not only refining its executive structure but also sharpening its creative focus. Katie McCartney has been appointed Executive VP/General Manager, while Tom LaScola steps in as Head of Artist and Audience Strategy through a deeper collaboration between MCA and his firm, THE TRENCHES, now connected via UMG’s Republic Collective. One of Cobb’s first major initiatives includes the launch of a new songwriting-focused alliance designed to nurture Nashville’s homegrown talent. In line with this mission, Jessie Jo Dillon has been named the inaugural “Song Buddy”—a uniquely tailored role emphasizing the company’s investment in the city’s songwriting ecosystem. MCA will continue to support its established labels—Mercury Nashville, EMI Nashville, Capitol Nashville, and MCA Nashville—while also backing the newly launched Lucille Records, founded by Cobb and helmed by Austin Jenkins (Sr. VP of A&R and Head of Lucille). The boutique imprint’s first signings include Lamont Landers, Landon Smith, Isabel Dumas, and Sons of Habit. The broader MCA roster remains a powerhouse lineup featuring country artists including Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Reba McEntire, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, George Strait, Sam Hunt, Little Big Town, and many more.
