WARNER CHAPPELL MUSIC LAUNCHES IN INDIA
Warner Chappell Music (WCM) has officially established direct operations in India, marking a significant shift from its previous sub-publishing approach to a fully integrated, on-the-ground presence. This move is designed to give Indian songwriters deeper access to WCM’s global creative network, along with its advanced rights management systems and infrastructure.

Jay Mehta, who has led Warner Music India as Managing Director since its launch in 2020, will head the new publishing division while continuing to oversee recorded music operations. His expanded remit brings both sides of the business, recordings, and publishing, under a single leadership structure, enabling a more unified and streamlined offering for artists and songwriters across India and neighboring South Asian markets. In this role, Mehta will report to Guy Moot, Co-Chair & CEO, WCM, and Lo Ting-Fai, President, Warner Music APAC.
Robert Kyncl, CEO, Warner Music Group, stated, “India is a key part of our global growth strategy, and the talent emerging there is truly world-class. By bringing our publishing and recorded music operations under Jay Mehta’s proven leadership, we are creating a unified powerhouse that can better serve creators and fans alike. This is the right moment to double down on our investment in India’s vibrant creative economy.”
The expansion comes at a time of rapid growth for India’s music industry. Recent data shows a sharp rise in creator earnings, with collections reaching approximately ₹7 billion (around $75 million USD) in 2024, reflecting a 42% increase year over year. India has also climbed to become the 15th largest recorded music market globally. At the same time, the country’s musical landscape is evolving, with independent and non-film music gaining ground as Bollywood’s share of digital consumption declines. Local repertoire continues to dominate streaming, accounting for 90% of listening, while the market increasingly shifts from ad-supported models to paid subscriptions.
To support this momentum, WCM is offering its India-based songwriters’ access to innovative studio facilities at its Mumbai headquarters, making Warner Music Group the only major music company in the country with a localized, high-end creative hub of this kind. The transition to direct operations will also enable WCM to deliver more personalized creative services, improved digital licensing, and stronger day-to-day support through a dedicated local team.
Additionally, Indian creators and catalog partners will now benefit from full access to WCM’s proprietary technology suite. This includes Global Match, an AI-powered royalty tracking system; the Client Portal, which provides real-time insights into earnings and catalog performance; and Pulse, a songwriter-focused app built in collaboration with creators. Together, these tools are set to significantly enhance transparency, efficiency, and control for songwriters operating in India’s fast-growing music market.

Each week, A&R Worldwide shares a snapshot of creatives and executives that we have collaborated or worked with in various music markets around the world, albeit in recent or previous times!

A&R Worldwide Founder Sat Bisla first met Wendy Goldstein when she worked as a leading A&R executive at Priority/Capitol Records in the early 2000’s when Sat was an A&R consultant for Capitol Records’ Head of A&R, Ron Laffitte. Sat met Bryan Turner at his home back in 2001 when they were celebrating the signing of the 15-year-old singer/songwriter Bonnie McKee whom Sat helped with early A&R development (and sign to Warner Music through his attorneys Doug Mark and Brian Schall) with Bryan’s nephew Dylan (who was Sat’s assistant at the time).
Wendy Goldstein, President & Chief Creative Officer at Republic Records, is a pivotal A&R figure with over three decades of experience, instrumental in shaping the careers of artists like Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, John Legend, The Roots, and countless others. Starting as an assistant at Epic Records, she overcame early industry gender barriers to become a top executive known for her, according to an interview, keen ear for talent across genres. Wendy is also the first-ever recipient of the esteemed annual “Seymour Stein – Global A&R Award,” which is held annually at A&R Worldwide’s global music business conference – MUSEXPO “United Nations of Music.”
Bryan Turner revolutionized West Coast hip-hop by founding Priority Records in 1985, turning it into a major independent powerhouse responsible for launching N.W.A. and fostering the careers of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and countless others. His strategic leadership, noted in a Billboard interview, transformed the label into a dominant force, leading to a long-lasting legacy in urban music. Bryan currently serves as the Non-Executive Chairman at Cinq Music Group.
Incidentally, Wendy also held a key A&R role at Priority Records whilst working for Bryan Turner.

THOMAS AZIER
Amsterdam, Holland-based Thomas Azier returns with “Year in A Spiral,” a haunting, deeply personal new single that opens the door to his most intimate body of work yet. Marking the beginning of his expansive PANORAMA project, the track captures a life lived on the edge where love, illness, and fragile hope collide in real time. Written during an intensely personal period, new fatherhood unfolding alongside his partner’s battle with lymphoma, “Year in A Spiral” feels like both a confession and a reckoning. Built as a kind of emotional litany, it drifts between quiet, everyday moments and overwhelming psychological landscapes, mirroring the disorientation of holding everything together while it threatens to fall apart. After several years of relative silence, Azier’s return is as cinematic as it is raw. Known for his genre-defying approach, he once again blurs the boundaries between pop, classical, and experimental sound, using his voice as a shape-shifting instrument, at times tender, at times otherworldly. The result is a piece that feels less like a song and more like a living, breathing fragment of a much larger story. That story will continue to unfold through a series of releases leading into PANORAMA in 2027, an ambitious, multi-dimensional project weaving together music, visuals, and performance into a fractured yet cohesive whole. Discover “Year in A Spiral” HERE, and contact Nahuel Blaton and Anouk van Esch for additional information and available opportunities worldwide with Thomas Azier.
Alt-pop’s fastest-rising force Chloe Qisha illuminates with “So Sad So Hot,” a glittering future-pop anthem that confirms why critics are calling her everything from “a superstar in the making” to “pop’s next big thing.” Premiered on BBC Radio 1‘s Future Pop and out now via Sony Music U.K./RCA Records the single launches a bold new era following her acclaimed sophomore EP Modern Romance. On “So Sad So Hot,” Chloe delivers her signature intoxicating blend of funk-laced grooves, disco shimmer, and razor-sharp contemporary pop. Written with hitmaker Caroline Ailin (Dua Lipa, Charli XCX) and longtime collaborator Rob Milton, the track is an instant earworm; playful, magnetic, and effortlessly cool. As Chloe puts it, it’s about “wearing sadness as an accessory… an assertive reminder that you’re still that bad bitch even if you’ve had your heart broken.” The release follows a whirlwind year that has seen Chloe support Coldplay at Wembley Stadium, light up major festivals including Primavera, All Points East, and Leeds, and sell out London’s Village Underground on her U.K./E.U. tour. Her first-ever U.S. and Canadian headline run has now concluded, with major sold-out stops in Brooklyn, Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Experience the visual for “So Sad So Hot” HERE, and reach out to Nicole Garcia for more information and available opportunities with Chloe Qisha around the globe.

With more than a decade of experience in senior marketing roles, she will now lead regional marketing performance across North America, focusing on team development, operational strength, and the implementation of data-driven strategies designed to enhance fan engagement and drive ticket sales.
TAMBER SECURES FUNDING TO LAUNCH ITS SONIC INTELLIGENCE-POWERED CREATIVE SUITE FOR MUSIC: Tamber, a creative suite powered by what it calls “sonic intelligence,” has announced it has raised $5 million in funding ahead of its official launch this May, with backing from investors including Adobe Ventures, Rackhouse Venture Capital, M13, Gaingels, and IAG Capital Partners. The company was founded by musician, technologist, and entrepreneur Zoe Wrenn, who developed Tamber around the idea of a new category in creative technology, one that approaches music-making as a collaboration between human intuition and machine comprehension. Rather than replacing the artist, Tamber is designed to enhance creative expression by acting as an intelligent layer within professional workflows, learning each user’s style while expanding their creative possibilities and maintaining complete artistic ownership. Using text or vocal prompts, users can describe sounds in abstract, sensory terms, such as color, texture, taste, emotion, or environment, and Tamber responds with audio drawn from a rich, original library built from real-world recordings collected globally, emphasizing cultural nuance and emotional depth instead of synthetic generation. The platform also introduces a gesture-based interface that enables users to manipulate and trigger sound through motion in mid-air, creating a fluid and highly intuitive experience that feels like conducting music with a wave of the hand. Fully compatible with digital audio workstations, Tamber integrates seamlessly into existing production environments while adapting to each creator’s individual process. Wrenn, who has a background in classical training and jazz influence, began coding at 13 and started building early versions of Tamber during the pandemic while composing music. She even used a beta iteration of the platform to produce her breakout single “Hailey,” which went on to generate over 350 million impressions on TikTok and exceed 30 million streams. Now fully developed and supported by a wide network of investors, Tamber has already helped earn Wrenn a spot on Forbes‘ 2025 30 Under 30 list, recognizing her contributions to evolving one of humanity’s oldest art forms.
